| Who Do You Think God Is? (jesusxcore Is A Joke)
Christian music has become a joke, acually the whole religion has become somewhat of a joke. On one hand you have a whole bunch of people preaching "Jesus is your best friend!", & one the other hand you have older preacher preaching "don't believe the scientists, believe God!" while shoving "live for God" down your throat. What isn't to laugh at? The fact is that science cannot disprove the existance of God, infact science has converted alot of athiest scientists, but faith is completly blind, if i may. But then you have people using their testimonies as truth, which makes everything seem truthful, so in the end nothing is. So it all comes back the question, Who Do You Think God Is? Yes, this does all have a point haha. This is a list of amazing songs, singing about God or Heaven without shoving "God Is Your Friend" down your throat. Most of these songs are, honestly life changing, so please listen & comment, also some suggestions would be awesome. | 1 | As Cities Burn Contact
"Hearts aren't really our guides.
We are truly alone.
'Cause God ain't up in the sky,
Holding together our bones.
Remember we used to speak.
Now I'm starting to think,
Your voice was really my own,
Bouncing off the ceiling back to me."
"God, does grace reach to this side of madness?
'Cause I know this can't be,
The great peace we all seek."
"Brother have you found the Great Peace
that we all seek?
You say take a look around
if their really is a god
then He must be alseep" | 2 | Blindside When I Remember
"A could moves in, rain falls, thunder strikes
And sunshine breaks through the clouds
I can cry out of sorrow and joy
Every drop of rain turns into a crystal in the sun
So wash my eyes, my clothes, my skin, my bones, my soul
My feet, my love
I?m not forgotten
I?m in your thoughts cause I feel sunshine in the rain
To this day nobody moves
Nobody
Nobody moves me like You" | 3 | Jars Of Clay Oh My God
"Sometimes I can not forgive
and these days mercy cuts so deep,
If the world was how it should be, maybe I could get some sleep.
While I lay, I'd dream we're better, scales were gone and faces lighter,
When we wake we hate our brother, we still move to hurt each other,
Sometimes I can close my eyes and all the fear the keeps me silent,
Falls below my heavy breathing, what makes me so badly bent?
We all have a chance to murder, we all have the need for wonder.
We still want to be reminded that the pain is worth the plunder.
Sometimes when I lose my grip, I wonder what to make of heaven,
All the times I thought to reach up, all the times I had to give up.
Babies underneath their beds, in hospitals that cannot treat them.
All the wounds that money causes, all the comforts of cathedrals,
All the cries of thirsty children, this is our inheritance,
All the rage of watching mothers, this is our greatest offense
Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God." | 4 | As Cities Burn Clouds
[bold]"Is your love really Love?
Is my love really Love?
I think our love isn't Love,
Unless it's Love to the end.
Is your god really God?
Is my god really God?
I think our god isn't God,
If he fits inside our heads." [/bold] | 5 | Manchester Orchestra Where Have You Been
"They call holidays an option for a reason
I heard you're coming back to life just for the fourth
I've been catching all your ghosts for every season
I pray to God you won't come back here anymore
do you pray with him, too?"
"I've got to take what I'm making
and turn it into something for you.
I've got to break what I'm making
and turn it into nothing for you."
[bold]"God, where have you been?"[/bold] | 6 | Oh, Sleeper Charlatan's Host
"Why spare the life of inglorious waste? Why let him live?
He's just hunting your own! How can you just sit there and watch?
"Because i love you more than you know.
Look again and tell me what you see!"
In the window was me. The massacres were all me!
Oh God, please! Please! deliver the penalties for all of this from me.
I'm not finding justice, no warrant for mercy...
don't give up on me. Don't give up on me!
What happens when I turn and run again? And again, and again?
"I will forgive you."
And what happens when I lie to your face?
"I will forgive you."
Oh my God, I can be so defiant to some one who's arms stretch to me.
"I will forgive."
Don't give up on me! Don't give up on me!
"I have forgiven you!"
I'll awake to new purpose to fight this body.
No longer will I play the dark shepherd.
Let not my words be ripped from the throat of a horror.
Oh, forgiver! Where is justice in letting me live?" | 7 | Coldplay Cemeteries Of London
"At night they would go walking ?til the breaking of the day,
The morning is for sleeping?
Through the dark streets they go searching to seek God in their own way,
Save the nighttime for your weeping"
God is in the houses, and God is in my head and all the cemeteries in London. I see God come in my garden, but I don?t know what he said,
For my heart, it wasn?t open." | 8 | Wintersleep Dead Letters
"I found a letter it read;
Our existence has serious side effects.
Turned on, turned on the television
It's telling me the world is collapsing
I think it's coming and it comes so fast
I'm hearing whispers of an infinite yes
And I don't know why it is
Our bodies are dead, why you look so sad?
And my therapist said
"We've evolved through a series of accidents"
"That's what my therapist said
We're alone in this wilderness
Left to choke on the pills and to feed on the viruses" | 9 | Thrice Open Water
"I'm starting to believe that the ocean is just like You,
because it gives & takes away" | 10 | Cool Hand Luke The Balancing Act
"I cross arms across my chest
This is not a gift I can accept
But I appreciate the sentiment
I've worked too hard for rightousness
To just lay down while you hand me this
And put my faith in something you call grace, from you.
I've been trying to learn what is from you.
Because I've been trying to earn what is freely given.
Every sound that you
Try to just refusem does it give and take?
Keeps it in my face,
And tell me that this blood was shed in vain." | 11 | Brand New Jesus
"Well, Jesus Christ, I'm not scared of dying,
I'm a little bit scared of what comes after
Do I get the gold chariot?
Do I float through the ceiling?
Do I divide and fall apart?
Cause my bright is too slight to hold back all my dark
And the ship went down in sight of land
And at the gates does Thomas ask to see my hands
I know you're coming in the night like a thief
But I've had some time, O Lord, to hone my lying technique
I know you think that I'm someone you can trust
But I'm scared I'll get scared and I swear I'll try to nail you back up
So do you think that we could work out a sign
So I'll know it's you and that it's over so I won't even try
I know you're coming for the people like me
But we all got wood and nails
And turned out a hate factory." | 12 | Norma Jean Disconnecktie: The Faithful Vampire
"So I begin with the end in mind.
The cycles of heaven, 20 centuries gone by, come home.
I've fallen three miles now... and I still can't shake this dragon,
but the end is coming like a flood. It's going to be a year for
growing and the greatest amount of forgetting. My sea is dying, but
death is a doorway
and at the very root of me I know this.
It's the greatest reminder. What a board world to roam in,
what a sea to swim in, so I begin with the end in mind." | 13 | Thrice Child Of Dust
"Dear prodigal you are my son and I
Supplied you not your spirit, but your shape.
All Eden's wealth arrayed before your eyes;
I fathomed not you wanted to escape.
And though I only ever gave you love,
Like every child you've chosen to rebel.
Uprooted flow'rs and filled the holes with blood;
Ask not for whom they toll, the solemn bells.
A child of dust, to mother now return;
For every seed must die before it grows.
And though above the world may toil and turn,
No prying spades will find you here below.
Now safe beneath their wisdom and their feet
Here I will teach you truly how to sleep." | 14 | Frightened Rabbit Head Rolls Off
"So you can burn me cause we'll all be the same, the same way.
Dirt in someone's eyes cried down the drain
I believe in a house in the clouds
And God's got his dead friends 'round
He's painted all the walls red
To remind them they're all dead" | 15 | mewithoutYou Carousels
"On a bus ride into town, I wondered "Why am I going to town?"
I looked around at th e billboards and the stores I thought,
"Why do I look around?"
so I got out and I bowed and kissed the filthy ground
and in the first dry spot I found I laid down without having to wonder why I was laying down."
"If I didn't have You as my guide I'd still wander lost in Sinai
counting the plates of cars from out-of-state,
(how I could jump in their path they hurry along!)
until you could surround me, you're pretty but you're all I can see,
like a thick fog - if there was no way into God,
I would never have laid in this grave of a body for so long" | 16 | Showbread Matthias Replaces Judas
"Where would i fit Jesus? What place is left for me?
the price of atonement is more than i've found to offer up as my plea,
Jesus my heart is all i have to give to you, so weak and so unworthy,
this simply will not do, no alabaster jar, no diamond in the rough,
for your body that was broken, how can this be enough?
by me you were abandoned, by me you were betrayed,
yet in your arms and in your heart forever i have stayed" | 17 | Brand New You Wont Know
"So they say, they say in heaven
There's no husbands and wives
On the day that I show up
They'll be completely out
Of their forgiveness supplies
And I cant use the telephone
To tell you that I'm dead and gone
So you won't know" | 18 | As Cities Burn Timothy
"It's not the sound keeping me from sleep.
It's what Jesus said about hell underneath.
I think I'd rather believe it's some imaginary place,
Made up to make children behave,
So our souls are safe to wander off,
Wherever they might please.
Your soul is safe wherever you might be."
"Take me back to where I was before I was born.
It's like sweet and dreamless sleep
It sounds like heaven to me. " | |

07.04.08 | god told me to obstain from saying anything | ilikemusicthatsucks
07.04.08 | ^You mean "abstain?"
Anyway, while science has indeed converted some to theism, it has also converted some to atheism. Actually, it's an interesting contradiction: Christians will get so caught up in assuring their faith through facts and eventually leave the faith, and then for every one of those there is an atheist that will get so caught up in assuring their beliefs through facts and eventually turn to God.
It seems to me, the more you know, the more you know you're wrong. Go nihilism. | TheSportingSwine
07.04.08 | Religion is just a manifestation of the fear of death, where the human mind cannot rationalize nonexistance, so it creates a "higher state", something to strive towards after death.
Essentially religion is a state of mind, a means of reducing the fundemental fear of the unknown.
Its also the single greatest evil in the world today, although thats obviously just my opinion. | Jim
07.04.08 | strapping young lad - oh my fucking god | thebhoy
07.04.08 | Hmm, I'm religious to an extent, I believe in God, but I am far from a fanatic. If someone wants to know about my religion, I'll help them out, if not, then whatever. The Sporting Swine, I believe that you should be more careful with your wording. Religion is not the greatest evil in the world today. It is more fanaticism then religion. Religion has produced much good and those who look at it rationally can use religion to benefit the world. It is the fanatics who can lead to real problems (ie. Terrorism)....
Oh and the music, ummm, I don't know much of this stuff. | BallsToTheWall
07.04.08 | Satan ftw. | ASberg
07.04.08 | The idea of religions are rather nice. It never works though since the human being is nothing but a freak of nature. | foreverendeared
07.04.08 | there's actually a lot of good songs on here | roofi
07.04.08 | 1 is absolutely amazing, one of my favorite songs of all time. 4, 9, 13, 15, 16, and 18 are cool too. | ilikemusicthatsucks
07.04.08 | I would agree that things like "religion is the number one evil" is a hyperbole. Yes it has been used overwhelmingly for evil, but it can also be used for good; civil rights movement in the United States owes a lot to the Christian faith. | Tool121
07.04.08 | All religion is complete BS. Evolution has practically been proved. even if god was real he's doing a pretty shite job considering the state of earth. ATM | Yazz_Flute
07.04.08 | Xerxes for the fucking win | foreverendeared
07.04.08 | list needs "Some Will Seek Forgiveness, Others Escape" | Altmer
07.04.08 | list needs less fapping to fictitious entities | botb
07.04.08 | list needs less whining. if you don't like it, then don't listen.
p.s. 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 13, and 17 aren't christian songs.
The only real band I could agree gives Christian messages every now and then would be Thrice because Dustin is a believer. But 11? 11 is a highly satyrical song. It talks about being scared and nailing Jesus back to the cross and how we all have wood and nails.
How is that preachy?
As well with 17, I'm pretty sure Jesse Lacey is an Atheist or at least an Agnostic, so once again this is very satyrical. | Cuban Pete
07.04.08 | religion is lame and makes a lot of people get the wrong impression of God. i only believe in Him because's i've tangibly felt His presence. nice list, and 16 is my favorite song of all time. | Chewie
07.05.08 | uggh, this idea is way too big to try to capture in a list. I read your massive description, and you're trying way too hard to prove a point. And then the massive quotes from the songs. Just list some songs your liking at the moment, your scope is too big. | charlesfishowitz
07.05.08 | what is this? ....too long to read. | YouAreMySilence
07.05.08 | Im super stoked for you, IAmInsect.
The whole Come Now Sleep is absolutly breathtaking & is my favorite cd of all time.
Jesse Lachey is a Christian, but remember Christian just means that one believes in God.
I am not that ignorant to want to prove this big point with a music list. All that this list is about are songs about God or Heaven that aren't preachy.
I put alot of writing on this, if you want to read it then do it
if you think that itt is to much then dont. | natey
07.06.08 | a lot of these songs rock. 16 is cool
"All religion is complete BS. Evolution has practically been proved."
what the fuck does evolution have to do with God? the athiest has no answer for the actual actual beginning. and i don't know where macroevolution has been proved. besides evolution doesn't work WITHOUT god. (where was the start)
"but remember Christian just means that one believes in God."
umm, no it doesn't. It means 'little Christ' or in layman's terms, a believer in Jesus Christ
| Tool121
07.06.08 | think about it natey if god had created the world why would he create something which would just change why wouldn't he just create the final product. I haven't put that very well but you should get my point. | natey
07.06.08 | 1. "macroevolution" has not been proven
2. what has been proven is microevolution which is basically like adaptation
3. my point is that regardless of what happened after the beginning, the beginning only makes sense with a god. why wouldn't he anyway... | RandMcNally
07.10.08 |
What is God? Dog backwards! ;) and my favourite fictional character, behind Spongebob Squarepants...obviously.
Seriously though, God is a product of fear and ignorance, a tool for control and an excuse for human wrongdoings.
But he has some great bands ;)
This list is seriously missing UnderOath, possibly the greatest 'christian band' ever. ''Some Will Seek Forgiveness, Others Escape'' for example.
| RandMcNally
07.10.08 | natey5280...i'm an athiest, and an ecologist....you want me to explain it to you...not that it would enlighten you.
First of all, let me make it clear that the is ABSOLUTELY NOT EVIDENCE for the existance of God...at all.
Now, here is it in a nutshell, to the best of my understanding...im not a evolutionary scientist or a biochemist. Basically, straight after the big bang (if you want an explanation for that you need to go into, physics, quantum physics etc) the first elements were created, hydrogen, helium...through simple chemistry these became more and more complex compounds, and created eventually planets, sound gaseous some solid. One, at least, contained the element plentful oxgen, nitrogen and most importantly water. For millions of years nothing happened, but eventually, most likey sparked by lighten strikes, nucleotides were formed by conbining basic elements such as phosphurus, oxygen. Nucleotide and the basic for dna and protien systhesis, the building blocks for live. Millions of years passed, and they got more complex via chemical reactions etc until nuceotide created a dma like molecule. These molecules became surrounded by other types to eventually create a cell. Single cell organisms evolved to mutlicellular organisms...with starts the course of evolution.
Im not sure of the specifics or this, as i said im an ecologist, but its all been proven. Current understanding is that infact it all began at geothermal vents.
So yes, athiests do have proof of how life began, its just VERY complicated, and we're still learning more....the idea of creation and god is so much easier, but it was made up back when we knew nothing about anything.
Either that of all the evidence scientists have is conisidence, dinosaurs never existed, woman was created from Adams rib, and the world is only 5000 years old.
Ironically, UnderOath are my favourite band. lol
(sorry about the poor grammer)
| Golgoroth
08.23.08 | This list gets mad props for 1, 4, 6, 9, 11, 17 and 18.
If more Christian bands wrote like As Cities Burn maybe Christian music would actually be taken seriously. "Worship" music is ruining Christianity's image :/ | xNintendoCorex
08.24.08 | i agree, contemporary christian worship music is just plain terrible, it lacks any soul and honesty and is usually nothing more than a re-hash of previous works, its no wonder so many people are leaving their belief behind. | stephenhannibal
09.25.08 | though i don't think religion to be a joke i do think a lot of the preachers and the pope have it wrong. In the age of televangelists, and pervert priests a lot of people a left guessing on who to follow... best bet is seek god for yourself.
Some cool music on this list though..... | slapzstick
07.08.09 | christians just aren't fun | Nagrarok
07.08.09 | God (MAKER)
noun [S not after the]
