05.07.16 | "Hip-Hop with lyrical emphasis rather than emphasis on beats is appreciated(so basically no experimental bullshit)."
You know hip-hop with emphasis on beats and production is not always (not necessarily even usually) experimental bullshit right?
The beats and production is the main reason I listen to hip-hop and I don't even like overly experimental hip-hop much. |

ofc jamie. i just really dislike hip-hop in which the experimentalizm/beats are so bizarre/overbearing that it doesn't even really feel like hip-hop.I even put some albums on here in which their is pretty heavy emphasis on the beats (3 and5). But itsn't to the point where its over bearing or even obstructs the lyrical performance. I have nothing against experimentation but in a genre in which lyrical display and prose are probably the most important aspects i feel that it should be restricted to some degree so the music/genre doesn't really lose its intended purpose.

This is where I disagree with you. |

05.07.16 | torontonian is treading the fine line between real hip-hop and credibility.... |
Torontonian
05.07.16 | thats fair. again, i'm not saying musical ideas should be restricted or whatever but i feel as hip-hop is like one of the only genres which was founded on a heavy lyrical emphasis. I also feel like the possibilites of language and lyrical executioin are far too vast to be compromised for something that can be done in just about every other genre without repercussion. |
