Fluff Fest 16

I went to Fluff Fest, in the Czech Republic, with a bunch of my friends last weekend. For those who don't know, it's a festival that puts on loads of touring hardcore bands from around Europe and a few from the states/elsewhere each year. It also does real good vegan food for dirt cheap as well and this year had a weirdly cool seam of screamo bands running through it and loads of crazy grind/pv . I saw loads of bands. List is highlights and lowlights... The creamy middle has been omitted.
1Old Soul
Natures Arms Encircle All

This was their last ever show and they were mindblowing. Very nearly shed actual tears.
2Graf Orlock
Crime Traveler

Probably the most fun band of the weekend, at the end of their set the vocalist and guitarist along with a member of Ghostlimb all crowdsurfed on top of eachother while the bassist and drummer did the end of The Dream Left Behind (Jurassic Park breakdown)
3Dawn Ray'd
A Thorn, A Blight

These guys used to be in We Came Out Like Tigers. Their sound is more straight up black metal now but they've kept the violin too which really worked well.
4Jungbluth
Part Ache

3rd time seeing these guys this year. They were great and the crowd was crazy!
5SHACKLES (Aus)
Forced To Regress

Australian grind, I wasn't really familiar with them before but they had tons of energy and were super appreciative of their crowd
6Famine
Famine

There seemed to be a lot of bands from Leeds playing powerviolence and grind this weekend, luckily they were all good. Famine were the best of the bunch though.
7The Black Heart Rebellion
People, When You See the Smoke, Do Not Think It...

Kinda seemed weird for this band to be playing in broad daylight but it was pretty entrancing nonetheless.
8Ghostlimb
Confluence

Brought a good energy and I have been excited to see them for a while, the crowd didn't seem to be too in to it but they played almost everything I wanted to hear.
9yacøpsæ
Einstweilige Vernichtung

Super-fast grind. Their drummer must have wrists of steel. The crowd was going crazy the whole time!
10Earth Crisis
Firestorm

I'm straight-edge myself, but damn- fuck this band.
11Petrol Girls
Petrol Girls

This band is from London and seem to be only getting added attention because they're keen to point out that they're feminists at every opportunity, even though they agreed to share a stage with Earth Crisis. Yawnfest hypocrites.
12Oathbreaker
Eros|Anteros

Now I've seen Oathbreaker before and enjoyed them and I would generally say I'm a fan. But this time, they were really flat and boring and the vocals weren't cutting through the mix at all for a while. Probably a bit of an off day.
13No Omega
Shame

This band is the definition of mediocre european hardcore these days. They have a pretty massive fanbase on the mainland though so their set went off. Left me feeling cold though.
14Wild Animals
First Songs EP

These guys closed out the Sunday and were rubbish. They're all in Enoch Ardon, I think, who are actually good so this was a disappointment.
15Totem Skin
Still Waters Run Deep

I was really looking forward to these guys but they seemed swamped by the big stage they were on. Also, one of the vocalists sounded great while the other seemed to be really struggling. A bit of a let down.
