Everybody Do The Exam Jam
List is albums I jammed over the past couple weeks of studying and exam taking and is loosely ranked. Done with the semester now though so I'm looking forward to a nice break. |
1 | | Mr. Bungle California
Holy crap this is good. I passed it up at the record store the other day because I hadn't checked it yet. I did the next day and immediately regretted my decision. Hopefully its there next time too. |
2 | | Rush Signals
My favorite Rush so far. |
3 | | Plini Handmade Cities
My favorite 2016 release. |
4 | | Skid Row Slave to the Grind
This is the only Hair Metal album I would be willing to call a true musical masterpiece. |
5 | | Rush Moving Pictures
More great stuff from a legendary band. |
6 | | Joe Satriani Surfing With The Alien
An amazing guitarist who should be better remembered with works like this. |
7 | | Gorguts Obscura
Really great death metal, but I'm not sure if I like it as much as it is acclaimed. |
8 | | Queen Innuendo
This album closer is the best Queen song ever. |
9 | | Deafheaven Roads to Judah
Not as good as Sunbather (pretty close), but much better than New Bermuda. |
10 | | Pierce the Veil Misadventures
I don't care what anyone says. These guys are good. |
11 | | Michael Jackson Dangerous
Album draws out a bit with some repetitive beats but the 1-2 punch of Give In To Me and Will You Be There late in the album is one of my favorite moments in pop music. |
12 | | The Mars Volta De-Loused in the Comatorium
An album that gets better as it goes along. |
13 | | Frank Zappa The Grand Wazoo
A really neat jazz fusion album from a guitarist I only heard about from a book. |
14 | | Coverdale and Page Coverdale/Page
A neat little short term project that ended up producing a great album. |
15 | | Childish Gambino "Awaken, My Love!"
Soulful influences make this a varied and worthwhile listen to even those who were not fans of his other work. |
16 | | Soundgarden Superunknown
There are weak moments here for sure but classic songs are just as plentiful. |
17 | | The Who Quadrophenia
Interesting story but a little bland compared to some of my favorite prog rock classics. |
18 | | Guns N' Roses Appetite for Destruction
Slightly overrated as a rock classic but excellent nonetheless. |
19 | | Angus and Julia Stone Down the Way
My friend rec'd me this and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. |
20 | | Rush A Farewell to Kings
This is weaker Rush, but with their music, that is no insult. |
21 | | Mayhem Chimera
While past their prime by far, this was not a bad effort at all and turned into a great atmosphere for their updated sound. |
22 | | Yes 90125
I picked up Close to The Edge but haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. This did well for now though. |
23 | | Ben Folds Lonely Avenue
I'm making my way through this discography because there are surprises everywhere with this guy. My favorite is Rockin' the Suburbs but this is awesome too. |
24 | | Radical Face The Family Tree: The Roots
More musically interesting than the leaves to me but not quite as good a story. |
25 | | Flood of Red Leaving Everything Behind
Very much like Circa Survive here with this album, which my coach recommended to me. |
26 | | Heartless Bastards Arrow
Another rec from a friend which I was surprised again by, but this one wasn't quite as astounding I suppose. |
27 | | The Police Synchronicity
I was actually kind of disturbed by this album a bit. Musically it was good but I prefer Regatta de Blanc. |
28 | | Queen The Game
I love Queen but this isn't quite their best work. |
29 | | AC/DC Back In Black
I thought I hated AC/DC but after this album, I realized I just thought they were overrated. |
30 | | Queen Hot Space
While this is not their best work (the synth elements could've been better for sure), it has Under Pressure which is one of my favorite songs lyrically and performance-wise of all time. |
31 | | Rush Presto
At this point, Rush were running out of ideas I think, but this is still a good album. |
32 | | Sea Wolf Old World Romance
This sounded to me like an inferior knock off of bombay bicycle club mixed with coldplay. |
33 | | Quiet Riot Metal Health
While the singles off this album are incredible, the rest of it pretty much sucks. |
