underrated and forgotten

many of these were ruined for many people because of personal expectations; i personally have taken these for what they are and i believe they're very good records
1of Montreal
Innocence Reaches

of Montreal will never again hit the peak they hit in the gay parade judging by the direction this album takes but all things considered this is such a fun record- it doesnt ever really repeat itself sonically... every song is textured and ultimately entertaining.
2Sleigh Bells
Jessica Rabbit

power pop, noise pop- consistently packs a punch. album is a mess no doubt, not in its sequencing but in its sonic aesthetic which is just overblown but arguably more subtle than their debut.
3Against Me!
Shape Shift With Me

lyrically aggressive and though its not much of a metamorphosis from against me's previous record, its still got loads of energy and a few songs that are bound to get stuck to your head- namely the chorus to boyfriend personally, its cathartic, really.
4Justice
Woman

this is to justice what ram was to daft punk, digging their sound back to the roots of their whole shtick. obviously this does not do it as far and as creatively as ram does, but the album packs some truly memorable singles; ESPECIALLY randy with a fantastic chorus and a memorable progressive disco approach.
5 Elza Soares
The Woman at the End of The World

sure got a positive reception but within a small circle, didn't really get much attention outside of the people who hyped it. the frankenstein-esque combination of elzas bossa nova vocal flair and calculated, coolly apprehensive post punk instrumentation this album packs is odd through but very intriguing and it really draws you in despite the novelty of the whole thing.
6The Radio Dept.
Running Out Of Love

grooves and breaks through beyond the bands formal lo-fi treble-y noise pop aesthetic and moves towards a more dancey direction throughout, even reaching modern edm climaxes at a few tracks. a very pleasant record to chill to.
7Ricky Eat Acid
Talk To You Soon

busy, intricately orchestrated production- shifts its mood throughout, often pleasant and mood lifting. not much to write about this as you'll much more get the feel of this by listening to it.
