Andy Black's The Final Curtain Tour

I took my daughter and her friend to see the Andy Black Final Curtain Tour at a small venue on Long Island tonight. Although his solo album hasn't gotten much love on Sputnik (or apparently much airplay either), it was one of my favorites of the year. So since he's also one of her favorite singers (she was the one who first introduced me to The Black Veil Brides), it was a natural choice to take her to this show.
3Palaye Royale
Boom Boom Room

This was the opening act, and I wasn't too impressed with them, although the crowd (mostly 16-20 year old females) seemed to like them. They played a fairly basic rock set of 5 songs, and used one of those songs to do a cover of My Chemical Romance's "Teenagers". And THAT was actually the best song of their set.
2William Control
The Neuromancer

The lead singer has kind of an annoying personality, looking and dressing like the obnoxious version of Peter Parker (Toby McGuire) after Venom dosed him in Spider-Man 3. But he's actually got a really good voice, and the band did an excellent set of electronic rock music.
1Andy Black
The Shadow Side

Black did all of the best songs from his album, including "Stay Alive" (my favorite), "Ribcage", "Put the Gun Down", "The Homecoming King" and "Beautiful Pain" plus a cover of Billy Idol's "Dancing With Myself", then played a 1-song encore consisting of his single "We Don't Have to Dance". Good alternative pop set.
