My favorite albums from 2016

My personal favorites
5Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
Skeleton Tree

A heartbreaking and haunting album with a broken down Nick delivering twisted laments with a painful delivery. It is bleak and desolate and though not an album for driving too, it is still one of 2016's finest.
4The Weeknd
Starboy

Though not as good as Beauty Behind the Madness, it still manages to deliver with tremendous skill. Bouncy beats, ear worm choruses and his immaculate voice layered with charisma and stylistic flair make this album a must listen.
3Nails
You Will Never Be One of Us

Pummeling, devastating and relentless. This album is the epitome of brutality and Nails cements themselves as masters of this style.
2Aesop Rock
The Impossible Kid

A deep and personal journey filled with complex rhymes, fantastic beats and Aesop's signature flow. Make sure to read along with the lyrics to this one because his esoteric wordplay is at its best here.
1The Dillinger Escape Plan
Dissociation

A masterful swansong that perfectly encapsulates what makes this band absolutely terrific. They will be missed.
