Slashs March 2017
What could this list possibly be about? No idea. |
1 | | The Internet Ego Death
Neo-Soul// Yeah, yeah this is some real quality stuff. Really liked listening o this, highly enjoyable. //4/5 |
2 | | Akira Yamaoka Silent Hill 2
Dark Ambient// Dank sounds to a dark game. Yup //5/5 |
3 | | Ahzumjot 16QT01
Remix// Some really good remixes by a really talented german producer/rapper who is also pretty good at... //3,5/5 |
4 | | Ahzumjot 16QT02: Tag Drei
German Trap// ...rapping, but he has this weird problem where his projects tend to run a bit on the long side even though every song is technically very good. My suggestion would be to... //4/5 |
5 | | Ahzumjot Luft & Liebe
Gertrap// ...cut down the fat and release an album with a coherent theme and exploration of it. Preferably with good features and good hooks. Wait. //4,5/5 |
6 | | Rich Boy Rich Boy
Southern Rap// The best tracks (mostly the singles) are some of the best southern jams you can put on and have a grand time. The rest is your typical mid 00s pop-rap shlock. And Rich Boy really wasn't a good rapper back then. Still, if you can't get down to Throw Some Ds, we can't be friends. //3/5 |
7 | | P.M. Dawn The Bliss Album…?
Transcendence// I CRY WHEN MIDNIGHT SIGHS. If the vibes say six, so be six, but six has a clone, thats a bit more feminine. And that's why I'd die for you. //4,5/5 |
8 | | Five Deez Koolmotor
Soulful-Hop// Okay, some of the bars on this are really cringy, but the beats are absolutely impeccable and haven't aged a second. Blissful, detailed, imaginative and colorful all around. Also, Shing02 with one of the best features I ever listened to. Hell yeah. //5/5 |
9 | | Charli XCX Number 1 Angel
Pop// MMMHMMM, I KEEP IT STICKY ICKY LIKE LIPGLOSS. //4/5 |
10 | | Snoop Dogg No Limit Top Dogg
Westcoast-Rap// Really messed up average on this one. This is at least a 3.3. Some really good vintage Snoop tracks are on here. //3,5/5 |
11 | | Drake More Life
Nope// NOPENOPENOPENOPENOPENOPE// NOPE/NOPE |
12 | | Fishbone In Your Face
Ska/Reggae// What? Did you expect any comment? I'm a fanboy. //4,5/5 |
13 | | Zara Larsson So Good
Pop// Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Some singles are good, some singles are bad, some deep cuts are good, some deep cuts are bad. The production is very shakey as well. Zara is a good singer, though. //3/5 |
14 | | Airospace Analogues
Sad-Trap// I'M STUCK IN A WORMHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLE. //4/5 |
15 | | $uicideboy$ I No Longer Fear the Razor Guarding My Heel (III)
Trapping Sad// Short, sweet, to the point. Some of their best songs in a looooooong time. I dig. //4/5 |
16 | | ROOK1E Alone Together
Lo-Fi-Hop// Ever listened to a lo-fi bandcamp tape? Yeah? You listened to this. It's not bad, but not amazing. Dude seems pretty nice, though. //3/5 |
17 | | DKVPZ Soulection White Label: 019
Baile-Trap?// Very cool and colorful mixture of baile funk and modern rap/neo-soul production. A bit similar to Sango, but has enough bite to stand out. //4/5 |
18 | | DAT ADAM HYDRA 3D
Cyber-Rap// If any of y'all read my year-end list last year, you know that this is one of my favourite records of 2016. An impressive step into their own direction with emotional and layered lyricism and performances and very futuristic/spacey/serene production. Really good stuff. //4/5 |
19 | | DAT ADAM How To Flex & Troll A Scene
Cyber-Trolls// The title is basically program on this. Still, there are good bars, good performances, weird musical moments and some absolute BANGERS. Good for wasting some time with and keeping your fans preoccupied while working on your next album. //3,5/5 |
20 | | Navy Westghost Horrorkid
Sad-Gertrap// Surprise of the year. Dude from a camp known for having NOTHING to say drops one of the most nuanced, well-written, well-produced and well-performed EPs I ever heard coming out of Germany. His wordplay/imagery and emotional honesty are so refreshing and impressive. And the hooks are great as well. Fenster has some of the best storytelling of this year. Big recommendation. //4,5/5 |
21 | | AllttA The Upper Hand
Electro-Hop// Really captivating, experimental hip-hop with not so experimental rapping on it. Lots of good, layered wordplay and concepts show up on here, courtesy of J. Medeiros and the beats are super interesting as well, thanks to 20syl. But something feels a bit off. Don't know what, though. //4/5 |
22 | | Jhene Aiko Souled Out
R'n'B// Really cool beats and lyrics and singing, but it's a bit too sluggish for me. Still, quality modern RnB, if you're into that sort of thing. //4/5 |
23 | | The Buggles The Age of Plastic
New-Wave// What? //5/5 |
24 | | Falco Falco 3
Austrian-Wave// How this shit age so nicely? So many good grooves, lyrics and production-choices on this. Damn. //5/5 |
25 | | Herbert Groenemeyer Ö
German-Pop// Even if I have to say this again and again, Herbert is probably the best songwriter to ever come out of Germany. Lyrically AND musically, even if some of his albums have glaring flaws in the instrumentation. there are none in the lyrics. Good thing the music keeps up with the lyrics on this one, though. //5/5 |
