Recent Diggies

Pretty, prettay self-explanatory; recs are most certainly welcome.
1The Wonder Years
Burst and Decay

Almost transcends its clear stopgap release nature, plus the acoustic instrumentation lends things a clear Aaron West vibe, which is always welcome. Singles are all well and good, but when's *that* new album dropping, Soupy?
2Phoebe Bridgers
Stranger in the Alps

Some gorgeous sad-bastardess music right here. Does the Julien Baker commendation justice. (Her new album will likely join my steady-rotation ranks soon enough, but I haven't had the chance to spin that one yet.)
3Jeremy Enigk
Ghosts

Definitely a grower; I never got super into Enigk's solo stuff, but in listening to this one fairly regularly for the past month, it's inspired me to revisit some of those older discs.
4 And So I Watch You From Afar
Endless Shimmering

Band sounds newly reenergized on this outing, and the back-half of the album is especially gorgeous.
5Those Who Walk Away
The Infected Mass

Another grower, happened upon this one by virtue of it being on the Constellation label, which is very often its own testimonial. Those looking for a lot of melody will be disappointed, but damn if this thing doesn't pack mood and atmosphere in spades, with its drones and tragic-yet-plainspoken word parts (the context of which I only recently learned, via a Sputnik soundoff) cohering into a disarming, potentially upsetting, but ultimately altogether flooring listening experience.
6Redshift Pilots
Moonlight Synthesis

Another Sputnik-inspired discovery, a pretty interesting sound that reveals new intricacies upon each re-listening. Seen it labelled elsewhere online as blackgaze, which is a stretch at best and really just demonstrates how meaningless a lot of genre labels become with time, but the featuring of blackened portions intermingled with a particularly melodic post-hardcore vibe and some frankly beautiful instrumental interludes makes for a very interesting and diverse listening experience. Haven't gotten to their EP yet, but if it's half as solid as this...
7Sea in the Sky
Everything All at Once

Latest addition, purely by virtue of the Redshift guest spot/endorsement. Digging it well enough so far, but definitely need to give a few more listens before I decide how I really feel, since some of it seems a bit rote.
