02.16.18 | Nah. And im just saying what got me into classical. Not a starter pack. |

02.16.18 | The original Goldberg Variations my dudes. |
Doctuses
02.16.18 | Art of fugue > goldberg variations |
WatchItExplode
02.16.18 | Perhaps, but hearing the Goldberg variations on NPR @ 5yo is what sparked a love of classical in me. |
Sinternet
02.16.18 | classical didn't peak until way into the 20th century |
Doctuses
02.16.18 | Hell no. Classical peaked with Mozart Beethoven and Schubert. Romantic music is pretensious and boring. Debussy and the impressionists are great. The serialists and atonalists are too edgy. Mid 20th century is recording and looping its not even classical music. |
Sinternet
02.16.18 | lol no
classical like all music only started to break down boundaries and create new ideas in the last 100 years, composers since the 1930's have done much more than any composer before them, the only thing that at all makes people remember mozart etc. is because they were the better out of a sea of mediocrity and noncreativity, modern composers have honed the art of classical music through modern and better techniques |
Doctuses
02.16.18 | That was definitely the most retarded thing ive seen on this website. And there are 5s on St. Anger. Edgy take but sorry bruh you literally couldn’t be more wrong. You’re probably just assuming all music pre-atonality is the same. Tell me more about these “boundaries” that have been broken, we talking minimalism? Loop music? And name some composers besides john cage |
Doctuses
02.16.18 | Actually don’t bother reaponding cause I’m not gonna argue with you. So I’ll just leave you with this ... Mr. sinternet. what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. |

02.16.18 | Muzio Clementi was a big one for me growing up. His trio of Op. 36 sonatinas was a big influence on my classical background (I'm a classically-trained pianist). Also, both Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn were big influences to me. The latter is especially underrated, and had both complex and incredibly beautiful compositions to her name. Also, one record that had a big impact on my own style of playing was In My Time by Yanni. While he's usually known for a new age style of playing, In My Time strips down his work to place an emphasis on romantic-era classical elements. Really fantastic stuff, and it was one of the most important records of my upbringing |

02.17.18 | I haven't listened to enough Clementi, I should, I'm a classically trained classical guitarist btw, so its cool to konw there are other classical musicians on this site. I also haven't listened to enough Felix and FAnny Mendelssohn and I mean to do so. They stand separate from the rest of the romantic-bunch. Except for a few compositions here and there, I really find Romantic-era music so dull. I suppose Wagner is an exception, but I never got into opera. |

02.17.18 | Mahler and Shostakovich have done some great work in the more modern era |
