| Family Barbecue
Tomorrow is a family barbecue. I have been giving the unforgiving task of creating a playlist of music. Everyone knows this is an undoable task. Someone somewhere is going to have a problem with whoever for some vaguely political reason, there's always someone who tries to skip songs half way through and get through about thirty before they "like this one", there's the "hold on a minute" youtuber that believes their hype because they somehow half decently faded between two songs on two separate tabs once. Not tomorrow. Oh no, no, no. It's an undoable task, definitely. But F* it, if I'm going down, I'm dragging everyone down with me. Recommendations, serious or otherwise, welcome. | 1 | | Animal Collective Merriweather Post Pavilion
In full. I plan on locking my computer and unplugging the internet/sky box so no TV radio, no wifi, nada. No escape. | 2 | | Beach House Bloom
'Myth' - I'll lull them into a false sense of security with this one. It's cool, it's downbeat, it's summery, Hell, it's borderline adult contemporary after brother sport. | 3 | | The Smiths Louder Than Bombs
'This Night Has Opened My Eyes' - And there it goes. Any chance of a fun family get together, dowsed by Morrissey and his ramblings about abortion in a river the colour of lead. | 4 | | Serge Gainsbourg Jane Birkin & Serge Gainsbourg
'Je T'aime...' - inappropriate | 5 | | Scott Walker The Drift
'Clara' - It's topical, ain't it. | 6 | | Kanye West ye
In full. Twice over. However, during the second run through, I Love Kanye is in-between each song. | 7 | | Mount Eerie A Crow Looked At Me
'Death is Real' - Just to keep it light and playful while we're eating. | 8 | | Godspeed You! Black Emperor F♯ A♯ ∞
'East Hastings' - while this is on, I plan to hide at the back of the garden making bigfoot noises. | 9 | | Animal Collective Merriweather Post Pavilion
And we're back to where we started. I'll probably just roll around shouting 'there was a large barge' at people until they leave. | |

06.02.18 | This is going to be the best BBQ ever. | Dewinged
06.02.18 | Portal is a band that usually makes the whole family come together. | LordHugoThePoet
06.02.18 | Portal is a good shout, I imagine Outre would be the best option. | Dewinged
06.02.18 | Yeah you can alternate smth like Portal, Ricky Martin, Death Grips, Celine Dion... They won't know what hit'em. | zakalwe
06.02.18 | If I went to a BBQ that played Animal Collective I’d Novichok the sangers. | goblinilbog
06.03.18 | I'd recommend "Guillotine" by the family-friendly hip-hop trio known as the "Death Grips". Very fun, upbeat summer jam. Also "Heresy" by "Nine Inch Nails", a song which really illustrates/promotes coexisting and trying to accept others. And to top off the night I would recommend hitting the "play" button on the song "43% Burnt" by the energetic math/geometry-core band known as "The Dillinger Escape Plan". Very quick and, dare I say, FAST rock band indeed that will get the family groovin. |
