| Life Affirming List
Been lately loving those jams that elate and invigorate and inspire and soothe and comfort and calm and console and do all that good stuff. Maybe it's that I'm currently trying to wade my way through the Gulag Archipelago and need a pick me up, or maybe it's just that the darker emotions that some music can stir up don't mix well with the beautiful weather and blistering heat Europe has been experiencing recently. List is some of those albums that make me soar. | 1 | | Iron And Wine Our Endless Numbered Days
[Folk] Not always the happiest album, but good lord, there is so much warmth in these cyclical acoustic passages and progressions that refuse to resolve and just pull all sorts of goodness out of me. | 2 | | of Montreal Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?
[Synthy-disco-type-pop-stuff] Just. So. Bloody. Catchy. And nuanced, which is neat. | 3 | | Paul Simon Graceland
[Folk-African] Bobbing bass-lines and spiritual rhythms aplenty. | 4 | | Do Make Say Think Other Truths
[Post Rock] This aint no cookie-cutter Post Rock, this has a real spark to it. | 5 | | Flotation Toy Warning The Machine That Made Us
[Indie Rock] Soundscapes swirling sweetly, forever. | 6 | | Chicago Chicago Transit Authority
[Jazz Fusion] They came to entertain, and they succeeded. | 7 | | The Front Bottoms Ann
[Indie Rock] Currently my favourite summer jam, and one not to be overlooked as just another tired release from another tired band; imho it's probably the best thing they've done in years. | 8 | | Isaac Hayes Hot Buttered Soul
[Soul] Ah, that voice. Like butter. | 9 | | Fishmans Long Season
[Experimental Indie Pop] Even attempting to label a genre on this thing makes me squirm a bit; a beautiful, restless watercolour. | 10 | | Ray Lynch Deep Breakfast
[New Age / Ambient] Still one of my fave records ever. Nothing calms me down like this. | 11 | | Ichiko Aoba Kamisori Otome
[Folk] Enigmatic and delicate and fucking gorgeous | 12 | | Frontierer Unloved
[Hardcore] To call this calming may be bizarre to some, but the catharsis to be found in this mathy wall of rage also soothes the heck out of me | 13 | | Jethro Tull Thick as a Brick
[Prog] Ah, almost forgot this beaut. | 14 | | Fleetwood Mac Rumours
[Pop] ...And this | 15 | | Rainbow Rising
[Rock] ...aaaand this. | |

08.04.18 | 9 is definitely a feel good sorta feel, even down to that delightful album art
Life's been a bit 'just' in the motions right now, so there hasn't been much music for these feels, but I love when I'm in the moods to jam these sorta sunny albums non stop. Nujabes is an eternal sunny artist | AsleepInTheBack
08.04.18 | Mmm hmm, always good to embrace those moods when they come. I always struggle with Nujabes for whatever reason, but the music undoubtedly fits the description. | DoofDoof
08.04.18 | 8 is really good and also impressive to see Isaac was pioneering solar power using his polished bald bonce on the cover | Pheromone
08.04.18 | Nujabes - Reflection Eternal in particular is my seminal ~this~ sorta mood. check that track & see how you feel | BenThatsMyJamin

08.04.18 | Yeah as a vocals fan love a bit of Ronnie, need to listen to more Rainbow, thanks man m/ let me know what you think of Causa Sui, they're definitely not for everyone but that album has quickly become one of my favourites of all time; it's like an auditory Mediterranean cruise | AsleepInTheBack
08.04.18 | Gave the first song a go from vol1 and yeah phew it's a beaut. Very subtle, more so than I generally see from the genre. I dig. | calmrose
08.04.18 | "To call this calming may be bizarre to some, but the catharsis to be found in this mathy wall of rage also soothes the heck out of me"

08.05.18 | Smae. Both Frontierer records are some of the best around at soothing me in that way. |
