Asura's 2016 Favourite Albums
Keeping this short and sweet, even though it was to narrow down, here are my top 10 favourite albums of 2016.
I'd like to do a list for every year that really delivered for me personally, so 2016 was an obvious choice. |

Welcome To Fat City
Talk about a dynamic and electrifying band. Crobot is so much fun, with its grooviness and over the top vocal performance, it is definitely a weird pick for a top ten but I just enjoy this way too much. |

To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere
A great comeback, even if it's not at the same level as Major/Minor in my opinion. The vocal delivery is incredible as usual and overall a very solid album that feels fresh but incredibly familiar at the same time. |

The Fall of Hearts
A really interesting direction for the band, that not only expands on their previous sound(s) but also takes risks. It's a very appealing and soothing record that expands on what is already an incredible resume. |

Magma
As always, it was a long time coming but the last Gojira album (at the time where this is being written) delivered once again. As always it is fierce and imposing both instrumentally and vocally and I do personally enjoy their environmental shtick. |

Dust
A step up from his previous album Cauterize, Tremonti keeps putting out great metal in his solo project. As always there's some massive guitar-work and one can only appreciate the love for music and amount of quality content this man keeps getting out there, be it solo or with Alter Bridge. |

Polar Similar
Once again, my favourite album from a band I enjoy coming out in 2016, this time Norma Jean. There's a fair share of experimentation with great overall musicianship and aggression as per usual. |
| 4 |  | Cult of Luna and Julie Christmas
Mariner
Only found out about this album this year (props to DDD) and I've been jamming it on and off for the past 2 or so months. Great record featuring great atmospheric build ups and screams that feel inconsistent between vocalists but not in a bad way, just gives the tracks a very original tone. |

The Last Hero
Even though this is my least favourite Alter Bridge album I do thoroughly enjoy it. As always the vocal performance by Myles is incredible and it does feature some killer riffs and solos by Tremonti and the opening track is a great example of that. |

Low Teens
My favourite ETID album, heavy and groovy, with some of Keith's best vocal performances as well as a different tone from what the band had been doing so far. It features a bunch of my all time favourite ETID tracks and gets me really excited for what's coming next for this band. |

All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us
LF // LT is an album that hit all the right places for me, All Our Gods is an expansion to that sound with Architects' nihilistic view on the world kicking in full throttle. When this album came out I had a family member dealing with cancer and it resonated with me greatly at the time, that being said, Tom's death makes this album that much meaningful with Memento Mori serving as a final requiem. |
