Genre: Really any sort of metal
Part of the discomfort is that I have no idea where to dive in since there are so many subgenres. I'm not as much into heavy or abrasive music, but do love post-hardcore. I'm really into strong/catchy melodies and I know that metal with that exists, I just don't know where to find it. Something more atmospheric would probably be more up my alley. My top three favorite genres are probably folk, indie rock, and pop punk. |

07.20.19 | Kaiwaz, as a Texan that grew up with country before it got super commercialized, listen to Brooks and Dunn - Neon Moon and see if that awakens some sad ass fucking feelings. It's a nice representation of the lonesome blues underpinning of a lot of country music (which I loathe writ large btw)

I'm not really a metal head, like you post hardcore is my heavy genre of choice but there is some metal I like. I would recommend Pain of Salvation's album Remedy Lane. Give the song "Chain Sling" a try as a taster. The genre is prog metal but to be honest much on the album barely qualifies as metal. But that can be a nice way to dip your toes in. I recommend it because it has strong, memorable choruses and it has some of the same expressive power as post hardcore. How you enjoy!
As for myself, I'd be interested in some jazz recs. I like rhythmic grooves a lot so I'd be keen to explore recs that capitalise on that side of jazz. |

I just cant stand how un-punk this genre is. I love abrasive punk/hardcore (Converge, Botch, Cave In, Bad Brains, etc) however there is some more melodic stuff I dig as well (Husker Du and Jawbox come to mind).
@nightbringer check Dvne - Asheran. It has a really unique, middle eastern inspired melodic vibe to it with some outstanding performances. Their are also some more extreme metal tendencies throughout this record but they're not too hard on the ears and might even help you appreciate that kind of metal more. |

07.21.19 | @mightyscoop check new dangerous summer. I also have issues getting into pop punk but I thought it was a solid album that might away your opinion. Could be wrong but it's worth a shot.
My out of comfort genre is Electronica. Although I fw stuff like burials "untrue" and think "endtroducing" is brilliant mostly due to the atmospheric feel the albums produce I've had much trouble listening to whole albums past those two |

@Uzumaki, Maybe try Scar Symmetry - Holographic Universe. For being a death metal/melodeath band (this is probs more towards the melodeath side), there are quite a few clean vocals on it. That was one of my first in the genre. |

I’d say out of everything that I listen to I find country to be my biggest weakness but I do enjoy what gritty outlaw country (as long as it’s not obviously racist) and bluegrass I’ve heard. I just haven’t heard too much. Just please none of that Florida Georgia line pop country shit |
