Playing Catch Up

With everyone making 2008 lists I figured I needed to play some catch up and acquaint myself with more stuff from this year. Heard about 60+ now, pays to keep my ear on the ground.
1 Forgive Durden
Razia's Shadow: A Musical

Pop-punk swing at high culture? This is a really cute album, falls flat a bit, but a nice listen if you're in the mood.
2Fall Out Boy
Infinity On High

No really, this is good.
3 Panic At The Disco
A Fever You Can't Sweat Out

This is not so good.
4Carcass
Heartwork

F'ucking hectic, it's like melodicsh-grindish death or somewhere in between. Still got the solos to mark it as old school, but a solid as hell release, took me too long to check this out.
5Lykathea Aflame
Elvenefris

Another one I've been meaning to get my hands on this for Waaay to long, I love it when tech death is done well, and my gosh is it done well here.
6Bad Brains
Bad Brains

Another wicked hardcore record, except done with hits of dub and raggae. Wat?
7Circa Survive
On Letting Go

Eh, I only checked this out 'cause Anthony Green was in here and it was exactly what I expected. Nothing all that exciting at all, but theres nothing particulalry wrong with it either.
8Los Campesinos!
We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed

It's like if Bloc Party got really really loose and changed their image completely. This is actually really cool.
9Deerhunter
Microcastle

Great little album, airy indie melodies all around, I just wish it had a bit more power to it.
10Shugo Tokumaru
Exit

Cute happy Japanese indie, I like it, but I need to listen to this more.
11Adebisi Shank
This Is The Album Of A Band Called Adebisi Shank

Amazing record, I absolutely love this, it's math rock, but so much fun.
12Pivot
O Soundtrack My Heart

Aussie Math-rock, these guys are technically on point, but know how to write great songs at the same time.
13Lights Out Asia
Eyes Like Brontide

This was exactly as I expected it to be, stretched out soundscapes, all very prettily done.
14Jakob
Solace

Awesome post-rock in the vein of Pg.Lost and Meniscus.
15Aussitot Mort
Montuenga

This is good yes, but I'm *this* close be being completely over euro-Skramz.
