03.10.20 | Really looking for anything from any genre. I think I just need something to shock me out of this musical slump that I've been in. |
parksungjoon
03.10.20 | well i dont know anything about new music BUT maybe this?

BeyondCosby
03.10.20 | I've seen this one but haven't spun it. That good? |
parksungjoon
03.10.20 | have you heard the previous AAL record? |
BeyondCosby
03.10.20 | Naw I missed last years but I know it got a lot of love. Spinning it now and it's pretty interesting. |
parksungjoon
03.10.20 | hmm well the new one is a lot more experimental than the previous. i dont knwo how much you dig electronic stuff. 2012-2017 was fairly accessible house kinda stuff, this is all over the place and weird but honestly i love it more with each spin. |
parksungjoon
03.10.20 | id say deefers + faith + penny is the best run of tunes on it if you wanna hear the highlights |
BeyondCosby
03.10.20 | I'll give everything an honest listen. So far this stuff is pretty cool. Gonna check out your stretch and, if I'm hooked I'll hit the rest. |
SlothcoreSam
03.10.20 | Try PEARS-Pears, it's melodic punk/hardcore |
BeyondCosby
03.10.20 | Damn... dat rating. Yeah, I'll toss that on the list. Thanks Sloth! |
Divaman
03.10.20 | I feel kind of the same way about 2020 right now. Maybe try the Yuri Gagorin. |
BeyondCosby
03.10.20 | I did. It's fine, but there's nothing I really want to return to from it. Haven't had an urge to spin any of it since it came out. I don't know why, but this year has just had a lackluster feeling to it (musically). |
BeyondCosby
03.10.20 | Damn, Pears slaps. Each song feels like it's on the verge of falling apart. |
Ashtiel
03.10.20 | a few albums i've enjoyed this year that might be worth a look:
* andy shauf - the neon skyline (chamber folk/singer-songwriter)
* luminous bodies - nah nah nah yeh yeh yeh (noise rock, stoner metal)
* cadaverette - a farewell to earthly existence (post-hardcore, sludge metal)
* wilsen - ruiner (dream pop, indie folk)
* bambara - stray (post-punk, punk blues, gothic rock)
|
SlothcoreSam
03.11.20 | Yeah PEARS, is the shit! Give it another couple of spins, and watch your erection, i mean rating grow! |
JohnnyoftheWell
03.11.20 | Ctrl + f "Bambara"
Ashtiel [2] This album is probs my fave so far, very strong stuff
Ctrl + f "Thy Catafalque" - slick palatable metal fusion with a bunch of other stuff, equal parts metal and non-metal appeal. Good times.
Nero di Marte - Immoto is good post-metal with some gr9 techy rhythms
REOL - Kinjitou is dope jpop/hip-hop that will either turn you off within a minute or stick like glue
Jida - Lucid is gorgeous Korean R&B, really chill stuff |
Dewinged
03.11.20 | You need the new Psychonaut. Hell, you all need it.
Also check Bohren & Der Club of Gore's latest for some dark ambient jazz awsmness. |
JohnnyoftheWell
03.11.20 | oh yeah new Bohren is gud too |
Muppelope
03.11.20 | Agreed on 14 and 16, even though they should both be up my alley. I'd strongly suggest Bambara, Hot Mulligan, The Motion Mosaic, Lowrider, Polaris (AUS), Sega Bodega and Landon Tewers |
BeyondCosby
03.11.20 | @Ash All of those sound pretty cool. Ill start shifting through it.
@Johnny I feel like I've checked Thy Catafalque in the past and been meh about it, but I know they get a lot of love so I'll give the new one a spin.
@Dewinged Never heard of Psychonaut but I assume its.... stoner rock? You had me at "dark"...
@muppelope Out of the stuff you rec'd which would you sing the most praise for? Just so I have a starting point.
|
Muppelope
03.11.20 | In order from favorite to less favorite, more or less, and a couple highlights from each project:
Hot Mulligan - *equip sunglasses* and BCKYRD
Motion Mosaic - Blue Skies Over Bedlam and Muad'Dib
Lowrider - Pipe Rider and Red River
Polaris - Hypermania and All of This is Fleeting
Bambara - Heat Lightning and Stay Cruel
Sega Bodega - Masochism and 2 Strong
Landon Tewers - Excrete and Final Form

Muppelope
03.11.20 | @Dewi: I'm confused about this new psychonaut -- was it released this year or in 2018? RYM has it in their database as being from 2018, with reviews from then as well. I still need to check it out myself. |
Demon of the Fall
03.11.20 | Listening to new music is soooooooooooo 2019 guys. |
JohnnyoftheWell
03.11.20 | and 2019 SUCKED
fuck new music
(2020 is probably already better tbf) |
Demon of the Fall
03.11.20 | Johnny don't do this to me, I went hard after 2019 but ultimately found it had diminishing returns, then I quit, now this...
Disclaimer: 2019 DID have some stellar releases, just the win/loss ratio was rather painful. |
Deathconscious
03.11.20 | Shell of a Shell - Away Team
The Motion Mosaic - Avant-Garbage
|
JohnnyoftheWell
03.11.20 | Yeah there were points during 2019 when I actively questioned whether I still enjoyed music lmao. Hit ratio has been much better so far this year, but also I'm a bit behind so have probably missed a fair chunk of dross |
Scheumke
03.11.20 | Still have to hear something that would've ended in my top10 for 2019, except for maybe Envy. |
BeyondCosby
03.11.20 | @Death what genres are those?
@Johnny that's exactly how I've felt this year. Been wondering if I'm just burned out. It's like I want to find new things but everything I listen to is just meh... but I'll hit those recs. |
Deathconscious
03.11.20 | Shell of a Shell is guitar driven indie rock, Motion Mosaic are a mishmash of different metalcore styles. |
BeyondCosby
03.11.20 | You've got me interested. I'll put em on my list. |
tectactoe
03.11.20 | Lonker See - "Hamza" |
BeyondCosby
03.11.20 | @tectactoe Sell me on it. What do you like about it? Haven't listened to it yet, just curious. |
tectactoe
03.11.20 | Blends neo-psychedelia, stoner/space rock, and nu-jazz in the most pleasing way imaginable. Enjoy it because there isn't much else that really scratches this itch - an itch I didn't even know I had until now. |
BeyondCosby
03.11.20 | Sounds interesting. I'll give it a spin. |
