Arkham City opens up the map and lots of people reckon that is the best one but personally i like asylum a bit better. there is a 3rd in the series but its clearly the weakest so can only recommend arkham knight if you really dig the others

Gyromania 06.21.21	Titan souls is a cool little gem. Flawed game in many ways but has some really cool fights and art - that secret boss in particular was superb and one of my favourite boss fights. Katana Zero is another huge yes, and I'd add both Hotline Miami games while you're at it.

You definitely seem like the type of gamer who enjoys a consistent vision. Whether it be the more cinematic aspects of the Sony console games, or more indie titles with interesting artstyles. You enjoy a good challenge but you don't like games with complicated mechanics that take forever to understand. The more simple the game is, the more effective as a game it is for you.

bloc 06.21.21	I beat Celeste and had like 1000 deaths or some shit, but for some reason I never got frustrated. It has some of the tightest platforming controls I've ever experienced. However, I see that you were not a fan of Super Meat Boy, so I don't think Celeste is a good option. It has way more in common with SMB than Cuphead.

bloc 06.21.21	You're right, I forgot about how quickly you respawn after dying. It makes a huuuge difference, which a lot of death-dealing games seem to ignore. I remember Katana Zero had the same feature. It almost tricks you in a way, like you're supposed to be dying a lot.

Veronica brought the sense of control over the virus, guys with super powers and was a chore to play. That fight between Wesker and Chris in the end is pure cringe, RE isn't supposed to be a bad anime. In terms of gameplay it is a downgrade over 3 and the difficulty is all over the place Just my opinion tho, but I would prefer playing Survivor over Veronica any day, at least that game is so bad that it ends up being good/hilarious

The newer Doom games will probably be more your speed, Doom 3 is a lot more action horror than straight up action. But Doom 3 is a very carefully constructed game that is essentially a giant haunted house but with demons on Mars. Love it!

Lord(e)Po)))ts 06.21.21	@johnny Ok, I'll take about 20% off the drama here and be real about it Witcher had a tonne of content it's true, and if you ignore the map being absolutely littered with some really trite repetitive B.S. - even more-so than usual for an open-world game - some of the side-quest content was definitely more substantial than in a lot of other similar games. But even so, I didn't love any of it, and it still felt like going through the motions and just derailing myself from the main plot to fatten up the play time. What I liked about Ghost of Tsushima is that everything was pared back, the side stuff was minimal but satisfying and it encouraged you to explore the map without it being a chore. HZD was a middle ground in that for me. It felt fresh, and the unique mechanics involved in weaponry and hunting the machine animals was more than enough to fill the game. There is almost always an unwarranted amount of crappy filler material in open world games, the story, characters, and mechanics are more-so what matter to me. In Witcher the story and characters didn't do much for me and the mechanics just felt like a combination of ideas borrowed from other games that I don't care that much about either.

But the artstyle for LN is cool and it achieves moments of tension and suspense that are very well crafted. Highly recommend if you get them on sale.

I can specifically remember so many quests I did because of the personality in them. My favorite was the one where a dude hired me to shag his wife because he couldn't satisfy her in bed anymore. Also Plague Tale: Innocence is a fantastic piece of brilliance

BaselineOOO 06.22.21	Why is there a debate about HZD being better than other games? It's an overrated junk food of a game. Its only redeemable qualities are its combat (with the robots) and graphics. The story is Ubisoft-empty and frankly, rather silly. Witcher 3 is superior, mainly because it has replay value, main story is better and most of the side quests are worth engaging in. Also the DLCs are great, especially the one with vampires, how's it called, Blood & Wine? I'd take this DLC alone over Horizon Zero Dawn. The parts when you have to make conversation with Regis are sooo cute. The writing is so fun and the endings are so satisfying as well. Still, these two games are irrelevant to me. At this point in my gaming career, I'd rather just replay Dark Souls III and Dragon Quest XI until the end of time than waste time with western games.

There are some very cool ones in the later game, tho.

I felt Hollow Knight overall was just really balanced and fair, which I like in a game. It's one game that really rewards you for just exploring, and figuring out where to go on your own. A lot of thought clearly went into the exploration aspect and so many games could learn from the way they executed it in HK.

A videogame can be like a book if the story is good. It engages you and transports you to a different world and allows you to actually be a part of the story. Of course this depends on the genre but that is the reason why my favourite games have always been Rpg/Adventure Games. I introduced my wife to adventure games. She played Syberia and The Longest Journey. That last one fucked her up so bad she was never able to play another game cause she says they all suck and can't pull her in to the story like TLJ did. I know that the game had as much an impact on her as her favourite books. Same goes for me. Video game stories truly have shaped part of my personality and way of thinking about lots of things in life.

DungeonBoy 07.14.21	I've never played the 3DS version, but "technically" that one is canon since AM2R was a 10 year fan passion project. But that being said, I prefer the SNES style pixel art of AM2R and absolutely loved the gameplay. AM2R is a very loyal remake of Metroid II from the gameboy, but expands on the lore a bit (all canon though). If you think Super Metroid was one of the best Metroids ever made, you'd probably prefer AM2R.
