Top 5 New Bands I've Discovered In 2021

(Most of these aren't new, I know) I've discovered and delved into many a bands works this year, I wanted to give some love to the ones that have wowed me the most, because saying nice things is fun sometimes
1VCTMS

A 3 piece nu-metalcore band that formed about 5 years ago, VCTMS were a band I never gave a shot until hearing Beautifully Depressing off of Volume III: Halfway Happy, and I loved it. I then saw they were going to release a new album this year, their 4th Volume IV: Numb the Ache so I gave it a listen, and then another, and another, and one more and one more yet again and I fell in love with their sound. Its a very dynamic blend of emotions with lyrics that are incredibly relatable, whether the music is crushingly heavy like in Hostage or Anger//Set or more mellow, calm and brooding like on the title track Numb The Ache. FFO: Polaris, Currents and Crystal Lake
2Inferi (USA)

On the whole I am not huge on overly technical death metal, but Inferi combine that technicality with the memorability and songwriting of melodic death metal in an incredible way, especially on their new album Vile Genesis, their 5th full length and first studio album of new material with vocalist Steve Boisier, whose banshee like screams fit the mood the instrumentals portray fantastically. Give them some love! FFO: Allegaeon, Black Crown Initiate
3Khemmis

I heard the first single to their upcoming album Deceiver "Living Pyre" and was hooked immediately. The soaring clean vocals (and the well done if unremarkable screams) and huge stoner doom riffs lit up my mood upon hearing it, and listening to their previous records has added a new favourite in the fuzzy, doomy, groovy stoner bands that I love and am personally inspired by. FFO: Sleep, Monster Magnet and Monolord
4Every Time I Die

This is a band whose name I've seen everywhere but I never got around to listening to them until their new album and 9th full length Radical, and I can definitely see why everyone who's into them loves them so much, in terms of punky metalcore this is a favourite of mine, the new album is stunning!
5Sanguisugabogg

I love brutal death metal, anything that sounds like a nasty toilet bowl or has IQ lowering riffs is a big plus for me, and Sanguisugabogg are definitely one of the best examples of this kind of style. Their debut full length album Tortured Whole came out early this year and its grooving nasty chugs combined with Devins disgusting vocals bring a smile to my face every time, a must listen for fans of slam, brutal death metal in the vein of bands such as Disgorge, Internal Bleeding or Kraanium
