1. what's the word for the name you get when you pronounce an acronym phonetically, eg. "Super Nintendo Entertainment System" becoming audially intelligible as "Snes" | 2 | | leatherette fiesta
2. here are some albums I love: unwound "leafy turny" atdi "relationship of command" built to spill "name of the built to spill album i like" slint "wet boys of the lake" fugazi "repeater" and i heard drive like jehu a bunch, what's the next album in that canon? note that I think shoegaze is usually just alright and don't send me all the way into early metalcore either, i think snapcase are just alright too | 3 | | funkadelic uncle jam wants you
3. where did funk go? i feel like youtube folks have just claimed the whole genre and its depressing cos muso chops aren't entirely the point imo. link me albums where you think funk went! afrobeat kinda mounts a comeback now and then but stays on the jazz side and its not as fun as i want it to be, danceable synth pop usually deploys funk transition ideas but does not evince teh actual, i heard Ghost Funk Orchestra's record from this year and thought it ruled but at the same time it is kinda stoner soul too. love Solange and her very funky production, yes i think Anderson.Paak is cool, I think Little Sims is cool, i like hard ATCQ-style beats with relaxed rapping over the top but that ain't really my expertise | |

11.23.22 | It's not Bitch Magnet! It's not! But probably Jawbox or maybe early Hot Water Music or Nation of Ulysses | artificialbox
11.23.22 | I feel like Hot Snakes is also a logical progression from DLJ and Fugazi. Listen to Suicide Invoice if you havent already (too lazy to check your ratings) | MoM

loll okay guess I have to finally check that band out | foxblood
11.23.22 | 3. hip hop is my answer, g-funk was the final implementation of funk into popular music and it's been dead since. it'll stay dead unless it is revived, and seeing as it takes way more skill and practice to perform with real instruments and rhythm, I think that it's safe to say it's gone for good. weak modern shit like Anderson.Paak doesn't have anything on a real soul artist from the past. there is nothing in the modern age like teddy pendergrass and it's not coming back | MoM
11.23.22 | 😔😔 | Relinquished
