DoofDoof 01.06.24	I get more quiet intimacy and fury from Either/Or and I certainly get more fury from Basement, a lot of that material says it all unfortunately Roman Candle definitely suffers from me not listening to it in my early twenties more than a couple of times though, as with a lot of stuff it’s just associations -a lot of my twenties are linked to Elliott Smith songs so those albums/songs are going to win I guess. Hard to be non biased, but I have really really tried to get into RC and New Moon a lot the last two years and like both a lot but they won’t ever gatecrash my top three

Ryus 01.06.24	either/or has it to an extent but he's also sort of drifting away from the sound of his i like the best basement definitely has it but i havent really connected with it
DoofDoof 01.06.24	Either/Or has six of his best twelve songs on it I’d argue, and that’s just game over in terms of picking a number one for me Angeles, Alameda, Say Yes, Between the Bars, Speed Trials, Ballad of Big Nothing Perfect songs, and some of the rest are only a whisker behind

DoofDoof 01.06.24	Basement is hard to connect with I agree, some of it is perhaps too ugly and antagonistic to always appeal but sometimes I’m in the mood for that too Also the track inclusions/track order is unlikely to be Elliott’s would be preference and some tracks feel superfluous or a bit jarring.
DoofDoof 01.06.24	‘Yep I'd agree with that, except I think the whole album is consistently classic songs’ It’s in my top thirty albums of all time so in terms of personal connection I’d agree, but stepping outside of that I can still say maybe not all are as perfect as each other. It’s one of the most consistent folk albums of all time anyway.

DoofDoof 01.06.24	If 4 was really his worst album that’d blow my mind Pitseleh, Sweet Adeline, Baby Britain, Waltz #1, Independence Day Those five would all make a top 25…’Waltz #2’ is obviously one of his most liked/famous too and would make a top 30 songs along with ‘Bottle Up and Explode’. Still his second best.

DoofDoof 01.06.24	the self titled has grown on me the most over the last ten years. I'd put Needle, Clementine, Alphabet Town, Biggest Lie and maybe St. Ides in a top 25 songs, Satellite and Coming Up Roses maybe make a top 30. a couple of songs I like a little bit less like 'Good to Go' and 'White Lady', even 'Southern Belle' I'm not always totally sold on - they're all still decent songs just nowhere near favourites
fogza 01.06.24	I would say figure 8 has grown the most for me, didn't really feel it as much at first but it's actually a gem
