a lot of critics were retarded and expected curren$y to make a life changing album, and felt disappointed. These critics, as i have said, are retarded. K.R.I.T. Wuz Here
this was basically an album anyways, built with cinematic soul instrumentals and K.R.I.T.'s dirty south swagger/heart. This album is mostly K.R.I.T. speaking his mind about his life, but when he just spits lyrics, he sounds great too. This mixtape showed potential for great things from a guy who spits better than most of the rap game nowadays. | | 4 | | Young Jeezy
Trap or Die 2: Reloaded
Cold, pulverized, one-note beats is what Jeezy used to rap over. Now he raps over cold, cinematic soul sweeps and occasionally a dark, fuzzed-out, one-note thing he used to do. His weeze fits his music perfectly, and this sounds great inspite of his lack of lyrical dexterity or ability. | | 5 |  | The Roots
How I Got Over
To be honest, this was a disappointment. In thinking it was a continuation of the raw, battle tested political ground of Rising Down and Game Theory, The Roots decided instead to toy with influences from the white folk. Not that it's bad, but it's just that it doesn't feel quite natural. Despite that, it's still a great record, and i'm still a fan. | | 6 |  | Rick Ross

Oh my god. Rick Ross will never be a great rapper, but he makes everything sound like a celebration, like better than it actually is in technicality. His newfound charisma, his organization skills, his beat picking is in top form, and seeing him rap over beats that would sound at home on Cuban Linx II and not sucking completely gives me that fuzzy feeling of proudness. | | 7 | | T.I.
Fuck a Mixtape
I have a secret for you. Nobody knows quite now, but... King Uncaged is gonna be the best rap album of the year if it comes out. Now that I have your attention, here's why. T.I. is CRUISING on this mixtape, and yet, he rufflessly kills every instrumental with his jettingly cool flow and abilities. He's not a fantastic writer, but he's a great rapper in spite of that. OJ Simpson
Although not quite as good as I'd like it to be, OJ Simpson shows, again, that Guilty is a great rapper and sounds fantastic over Madlib beats. Madlib tailor makes his beats for his artists, so he gives Guilty that grime-y, thumping gangster sound that Dilla provided for him. The moments that don't work are the skits and two songs that try too hard, although the skits try to evoke mood, only few do so, causing it to feel bloated. Despite this, Guilty has enough bangers on here to keep this afloat. | | 9 |  | Freeway & Jake One

This is good, but Madlib really holds this up with his soulful bounce and oozing creativity. The guests also hold this up, because, to be honest, both members of Strong Arm Steady sound disorganized within this package. It only sounds better that way. | |
