Favorite Mellow Stuff
I primarily listen to heavy stuff or harder/edgier rock like
Incubus, but
this is some of the stuff I like to kick back and listen to. |
1 | Andy Mckee
No deion is needed. |
2 | Animals As Leaders
A good portion of their album is heavy, but I love how subdued it gets. Tosin
Abasi's writing is so graceful and delicate. |
3 | Dashboard Confessional
Don't have too many songs from them but I dig the first two albums, Swiss
Army Romance and The Places You've Come to Fear, because they were
primarily just Chris and his guitar. He's whiny, but he's good at it. |
4 | Death Cab For Cutie
Gibbard is one of my favorite lyricists of all time. He's amazing at saying a
paragraph's worth of information and emotion with one line, i.e. "She holds a
smile like someone would hold a crying child." Brothers On A Hotel Bed = one of
my favorite songs of all time. |
5 | Dustin Kensrue
I'm a bit of a Thrice freak so this stuff is just a fun listen. Ultra simple but
effective. |
6 | Jon Foreman
His Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer EPs took a while to grow on me but I'm
listening to them more and more. |
7 | Justin King
Great technicality and composition. His youtube videos are epic. |
8 | Nickel Creek
These guys can very easily annoy the hell out of me, but they have a few
perfect songs like The Lighthouse's Tale. |
9 | Pedro the Lion
I love It's Hard To Find A Friend in its simplistic impact, and I'm fascinated by
how Control is easily one of the most intensely angry, bitter albums I have and
yet its music is so subdued. Options is one of my favorite songs of all time. |
10 | Snow Patrol
Driving yet subtle. One of my favorite vocalists as well. |
