The Hardcore List For Recs

As you may have noticed, I've been getting deeper and deeper into rthe genre of hardcore rrpunk. I've decided to make a list of hardcore ralbums that I feel deserved to be checked out rby rSputnik and ranyone interested in getting more. The first 16 are most important. rRest are rin ralphabetical order.
1Black Flag
Damaged

One of the most important hardcore bands and albums of all time. Not only
that, but it's one of the best, being in my top three for sure.
2Minor Threat
Complete Discography

The epitome of a hardcore band. Short songs that are pissed off and in
your face.
3Refused
The Shape of Punk to Come

Some people don't think this is hardcore, but I don't care what they think.
This is my favorite punk album and every single person should listen to it at
least once.
4Husker Du
Zen Arcade

One of the first hardcore bands to really experiment. The different sounds
helped pave the way for alternative rock to form.
5Bad Brains
Bad Brains

Another hugely important album. One of the first and most important
hardcore bands made of black Rastafarian that also has reggae songs.
6Discharge
Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing

One of the earliest British hardcore bands. Hugely, HUGELY influential to
more extreme styles (death metal, grindcore, crust punk, etc.) and the D-
beat genre was created to mimic Discharge.
7Fear
The Record

Kind of between hardcore and classic punk, but an amazing L.A. band
nonetheless.
8Circle Jerks
Group Sex

Black Flag's original vocalist left to form this band and another classic record.
9Cro-Mags
Age of Quarrel

Truly essential to the NYHC sound.
10Sick of It All
Just Look Around

Another essential NYHC band, but of the '90s. Very consistent band as well.
11Defeater
Travels

The first modern hardcore album I listened to and one of my favorites now.
Heavy, melodic, and emotional at the same time. Plus they're storytellers.
12Nails
Unsilent Death

My current dig. It may be a three-piece, but this band is HEAVY AS HELL
and will rip your face off.
13Dangers
Anger

One of the most pissed off albums ever recorded.
14 Give up the Ghost
We're Down Til We're Underground

Sort of a classic of modern hardcore. The band's original name was
American Nightmare and was highly praised before breaking up.
15Verse
Aggression

Another modern hardcore favorite. Too bad they broke up.
16The Carrier
No Love Can Save Me

A three song EP that shows a young Boston hardcore band with an
incredible amount of potential. Listen to One Year Later, their full length,
after this.
17Modern Life Is War
Witness

Everyone seems to adore this album. The band is so emotionally pure in its
story about growing up in a small town and the struggle that it is.
18Backstabbers INC
Kamikaze Missions

Heavy heavy heavy.
19Bane
Give Blood

Converge's second guitarist left for this band.
20Black Breath
Heavy Breathing
21Blacklisted
Heavier Than Heaven, Lonelier Than God
22Ceremony
Violence Violence

Extremely fast and intense.
23Cult Ritual
Cult Ritual

A lot like a modern Black Flag.
24Cursed
II
25Deadguy
Fixation on a Coworker

It is early metalcore, but still has a strong hardcore vibe.
26Disfear
Live the Storm

D-beat
27Have Heart
Songs to Scream at the Sun
28His Hero Is Gone
Monuments to Thieves

Heavy heavy d-beat/crust punk.
29The Hope Conspiracy
Death Knows Your Name
30Kiss It Goodbye
She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not

Another bridge between hardcore and metalcore.
31Kvelertak
Kvelertak

2010 album. Norway band that mixes hardcore and black metal VERY well.
32Lewd Acts
Black Eye Blues
33More Than Life
Love Let Me Go

boobies
34Rise and Fall
Our Circle Is Vicious

I love this band's versatility.
35Rorschach
Autopsy

One of the very first bands to play what would become metalcore.
36Strife
In This Defiance

Once again, somewhere between metalcore and hardcore.
37Unbroken
Life. Love. Regret.

And again, but this band is legendary. I may eventually review this album.
