02.27.11 | Sounds delicious. |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | @Angel: Agreed! It's been one of faves for a while now... it always makes it on all my mixes somehow :P
@Urinetroube: You must be very bored... |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | My baked goods are ill! hahaha
You should check it out!

02.27.11 | Are you a pastry chef? This stuff sounds pretty elite for Bible study fare.
Edit: I knew it. |

02.27.11 | The only downside to having Annie provide her goods for an event is that people bug me for weeks to find out how she does it! The strawberry lemonade cake is still making waves at my church. |
BallsToTheWall
02.27.11 | I'd like to bang your cupcakes, which is an honor because other than My work's cheescake, I have no urge to fuck food. |
Kimm
02.27.11 | What are you guys reading? My Young Adults Bible Study group is talking about I and II Corinthians tonight...should be interesting because some of the problems in my church are very similar to the former Corinthian church in terms of division/lack of love due to pride and self importance. |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | hahahaha... thanks guys :)
I like to make some of my favorites for friends and family sometimes... usually their my test panel... before I sell anything- I test the recipe with my friends and they give me feedback. :) |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | @Kimm: Isn't that cool how things like that kinda work together??? I had that happen in a Bible Study I went to last year! It really helps things get back on track!
It's a new study I'm starting @ this church called Rock Harbor... we're gonna be studying the gospels, I think. |
AngelofDeath
02.27.11 | I was trained to bake, but it's really not my thing. Measuring is a pain in the ass... |

BallsToTheWall
02.27.11 | Is it cuz im a foodophile in training? |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | Oh man... yeah. baking is ALL about precision, measuring, and attention to detail. In cooking, you can be a lot more free and liberal with your additions and things. I'm the opposite of you! lol... I can't cook unless it's Italian food. hahaha! |
Kimm
02.27.11 | It's great, although a lot of the time we'll hear something in church that I think really applies to our congregation and it will totally go over everyone's head and they'll relate it to a different groupof people. Always a good sermon for someone else, you know? It's sad.
What kind of church do you come from? |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | Oh man... yeah. baking is ALL about precision, measuring, and attention to detail. In cooking, you can be a lot more free and liberal with your additions and things. I'm the opposite of you! lol... I can't cook unless it's Italian food. hahaha! |
AngelofDeath
02.27.11 | Yeah, I like the freedom in cooking hot food. I'd rather go on instinct than direction any of day of the week lol. |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | @Kimm: I can totally and completely relate! I just left my home church of 6 years, because no one was growing or changing. Everyone was just content staying exactly the same. Not good at all.
I grew up in a reformed Presbyterian church for all my life. It's make things interesting. I still love a lot of the theology, but the Reformed church has really gotten arogant and rude, so I'm browsing different churches now.
How about you? |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | haha Sonic... I guess in a way you're right ;) Mad about it?
@Angel: that is definitely a gift! Do you like to cook a lot? You should host dinner parties with your friends like my friends and I do!! It's super fun! And there's always a crap-ton of food!! yay! :) |
AngelofDeath
02.27.11 | Well, I do it for a living, but I try and do it for my family and friends as much as possible. |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | @sonic: That's a skill right there! lol ... I like the white cheddar mac and cheez ...mmmm
@Angel: you do?!?!?!? What kind of restaurant do you work in?!?! That's so epically cool! I'm somewhat jealous :/ |
Kimm
02.27.11 | Oh wow...same here!
I've been going to a United Reformed church since I was about seven when we left the Alliance church. URC is a breakoff from the CRC...very similar to Reformed Presbyterian.
I'mlooking for a new church as well but it's hard to find a church that has both strong theology and strong fellowship. |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | OH MY GOSH!!! How crazy cool is that?!?! I came from a PCA/OPC background! I've gone to a couple of URC in my area too! Where are you located? I wonder if we've ever gone to the same church! lol!
I've been to one in Anaheim and one in Ontario... |
AngelofDeath
02.27.11 | Well, I'm a bit of a hired gun really. Haven't worked in a restaurant kitchen in a couple years now, but I've been at a few fine-dining places here in Atlanta and apprenticed in Australia for a brief period. Now I mainly just function as a personal chef/caterer doing private dinners and functions and whatnot. |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | oOoOoOoOo Angel!! That's super neat-o! I'm trying to get into the wedding/party industry a bit more. I would LOVE to do Dessert tables for events! I refuse to work with fondant and stuff like that... cause I want everything I make to be really rich and to taste good... so not a lot of brides really like me :P lol
But that's awesome! I have a few friends that are trying to get into the catering industry!
We should chat about food sometime! I love talking food :) |
AngelofDeath
02.27.11 | Yeah, I could talk about food and music for days. From the looks of it, you seem to have the talent to break into the market (I'm sure your sweets taste as good as they look). The flavor combinations certainly seem inspired. |
Kimm
02.27.11 | I'm fromCalgary but I was in Anaheim twice with my family and we went to a few churches in that area. I LOVE the URC church in Chino! |
Spec
02.27.11 | Sounds like a Kimm list. |
AngelofDeath
02.27.11 | Minus the Demon Hunter. |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | @Angel: We seem to be of similar mind!!! That is awesome! And thank you so so so much for the awesome encouragement :) It can be so damn discouraging sometimes... especially when you make a recipe that you think will be spectacular... and it just totally FLOPS! augh!! So terrible! But then there are the moments when you just KNOW... this is what I am supposed to do for the rest of my life :) And it's AMAZING!!
@Kim: It never ever ceases to amaze me how small the reformed world can truly be! That's so neat!! I enjoy the URC in Chino- the services are beautiful! But I do have to admit, I tried to join a Bible study there, and it was terrible! The theology was right on track, but the fellowship was ... severely lacking :( I felt like I was in a private club that I had never been invited to... it was very awkward!
|
Kimm
02.27.11 | I don't know any of the songs on this list, nor do I know how to bake. |
Kimm
02.27.11 | I feel like in the Reformed church we can talk theology for hours but as soon as you make it personal, people start to get uncomfortable. It's so sad - a lot of people are actually leaving the "Women's Reformed Fellowship" at my church because of the lack of true fellowship. I used to teach StoryHour Wednesday mornings during their Bible study and it seemed liked every week people would walk out angry at each other because of differences of opinion.
When you get so caught up in all the specifics that every slight difference causes a division, you really miss the mark of what following Christ is all about. |
AngelofDeath
02.27.11 | Which is exactly why I feel it's pointless to nitpick over scripture. Different people are going to take away different things from reading it. "Fellowship" is a joke because most people can't tolerate varied opinion. |
Inveigh
02.27.11 | the only times I ever go to church anymore is when I'm visiting my mom... makes her happy.
other than that it's not really my thing. 2, 4 and 5 on this list are pretty cool though. |
Kimm
02.27.11 | Well, it goes two ways. Some people are too legalistic and others just completely throw aside what God says and follow their own ideals.
The heart of the matter is a matter of the heart =) |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | @Kimm and Angel: AMEN to you both!!! I totally agree 100%. It's such a shame that Christians can't realize that no matter what, we should all have at least one very strong common bond: we are all trying to walk as Christ lived for us- because He DIED for us. But for some reason or another, we get all caught up in the little tiny, itsy bitsy theological differences that don't REALLY matter!!! It's good to know where you stand, but it shouldn't cause you to feel holier than your brothers and sisters! :/ |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | @Inveigh: I found Thelonius Monk when i took a music appreciation class in college. My teacher looked exactly like Shaggy from Scooby Doo and had ADHD everyday! lol... but he was also a Jazz composer and a brilliant man when it came to music. It was seriously the best class I took my first two years of college! |
Inveigh
02.27.11 | "My teacher looked exactly like Shaggy from Scooby Doo and had ADHD everyday!"
sounds like he and T-Monk had more in common than just jazz... |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | haha! I don't think Thelonius looked much like Shaggy... but I'm sure he was all over the place... much like my teacher.
I miss that guy- he was super cool and really fun to talk music with! |

02.27.11 | haha, I was referring to some possible "extracurricular activities" |

02.27.11 | I'm going to give you a hint: keep your faith to yourself here. I used to be a Christian (became an atheist sometime this fall/winter), but I won't defend it anymore. And there's very few people here who will. There's quite a few users waiting to rip you to pieces if you bring the issue up. |
Fugue
02.27.11 | Nice to see Thelonius Monk on a list, props for that at least. |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | LOL!!... oh... I missed that double meaning :P
I don't think my teacher was into that- he seems more like he'd be a stoner than take something that would make him all hyper :P
I think he was just THAT ridiculously passionate about sharing his of music to a huge group of people. He used to compose stuff for us on the spot... and it was pretty decent material to be honest. Really rad guy. |
fr33convict
02.27.11 | yay cupcakes |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | @Defeater: They can rip away- I'm used to it... and honestly it's something I've grown to expect on websites like these. But if they hate it that much, then I have no desire to make friends with them anyhow. It's a free country, and if they'd like to practice their freedom of speech all over my Christianity, then that's something they'll have to answer for someday. Being a Christian is not about "keeping it to yourself." Those that do... aren't really practicing Christianity as they should. |
darlingfemmefatal
02.27.11 | yay Petite Baker cupcakes :) |

not exactly sure when I stopped believing in religion, but it was definitely somewhere in my late teens. too many churches, christian schools etc maybe, but on the other hand a lot of it just doesn't make sense. to me at least. |
fr33convict
02.27.11 | "I'm going to give you a hint: keep your faith to yourself here. I used to be a Christian (became an atheist sometime this fall/winter), but I won't defend it anymore. While I would point out that this is a music site and religion doesn't have much of a place here, I've got just as much right to talk about it as any Atheist does. Just because we're in the minority here doesn't mean we should keep to ourselves. BTW All we need is Emim and we can have a Jesus party yay |
fr33convict
02.27.11 | Oh look you beat me to it. |
Defeater
02.27.11 | I don't see atheists bringing religion up all the time here. |
fr33convict
02.27.11 | Well look at this list. She says she's making cupcakes for Bible Study and then three people say something to the effect of lol religion or what not. That giant +800 post one a week or so ago involved about 3 posts by Christians. |
Kimm
02.27.11 | Yep. And honestly, religion is relavent to every aspect of life. Truth is the one thing every person has in common whether they believe it or not. |
Defeater
02.27.11 | And they probably proclaimed something outrageous. |
Inveigh
02.27.11 | there's a ton of intolerance on both sides of the debate |
fr33convict
02.27.11 | I'm not. Waior and Emim don't seem intolerant. Kimm doesn't seem intolerant but her timing and choice of words is pretty awful. This new person hasn't given any evidence of intolerance or tolerance. That's the entire known Sputnik Christian population. |
Inveigh
02.27.11 | also, darlingfemmefatal, have you seen Give Em Hell Malone? not necessarily an objectively amazing movie or anything, but if you're into noir you'd probably dig it. at least I did. |
Inveigh
02.27.11 | I meant in terms of the overall debate, not the sputnik debate. probably should've specified that. I've never really discussed views any tolerance issues with you guys, just know that the general Christian view on gay marriage, other religions etc. seems a bit intolerant and kind of unfounded to me. |
Defeater
02.27.11 | Personally, I view the Christian image of Jesus as a "fuck you" to all religion, considering he spent all his time with "sinners", and was killed by his own people. And then we went and formed a religion around his death. Be like Jesus, say fuck religion. |

fr33convict
02.27.11 | Any Christian who reads the book would be much more tolerant tbh. The people Jesus frequently interacted and made
the protagonist in his parables where Sumerians, a religion the Jews absolutely hated. Jesus said not to judge anyone. |
Defeater
02.27.11 | Isn't that what I just said? We should all strive to be like Jesus, and not Christians. |
fr33convict
02.27.11 | Sorry I didn't see your comment and was talking about Inveigh's comment. |
dirkschamgganbad
02.27.11 | jesus was not divine he was just some dude |
Defeater
02.27.11 | I never said he was define. I said he lived his life correctly. |
dirkschamgganbad
02.27.11 | yeah wasn't talking to you just commenting in general |
Defeater
02.27.11 | Christianity, Judaism, Catholicism, Islam...that's shit for the masses. This isn't one big community. Find an individual who did something and strive to push beyond them. |
Inveigh
02.27.11 | right, my point is that every church or school I've gone to and almost all Christians I've talked to seem to want to pick and choose which parts of the Bible they want to believe/follow. I don't think that I have to believe Jesus was the son of god and died for my sins to keep me from "hell" or get me into "heaven."
Although I do think the concept of religion has been helpful in establishing a moral fiber for a lot of society (general rules: don't steal, don't murder, respect others etc.) -- but it does seem to inspire a lot of violence as well... |
Defeater
02.27.11 | "right, my point is that every church or school I've gone to and almost all Christians I've talked to seem to want to pick and choose which parts of the Bible they want to believe/follow."
Yeah, that's why religion doesn't work, because not everyone follows the same parameters. Pick an individual you identify with on a moral and decisional level, and try to kick their life's ass. |

02.27.11 | ^pretty much |

02.28.11 | @Defeater: I actually totally agree with you! lol. I'm good at baking, but I don't care much for sugary treats- I'm more of a salty foods chick... or things high in fat- like cream cheese, bagels, breads, whipping cream, sour cream... mmmmmm so good!
@Spilling: how would I get everything to you all?!?! You all live to far away :( I could send you guys some of my homemade gormet marshmallows in your favorite flavors??? would you like that?!?!

spillingmercury
02.28.11 | That must be magical.
@darling: It's alright. I end up doing the same, but with smiley faces. If I don't use smiley faces, I just end up sounding straight up rude or disinterested. Which is usually the case, but I'd rather not seem that way.
Awesome. I'll do it tomorrow, since I should be studying right now/going to sleep. |
