Phenomenally Chill Albums

Electro-inspired beats that are so relaxing and easy to listen to. rAlbums I can throw on anywhere and at any time, as I sit back and renjoy the grooves.
1Air
Moon Safari

It's just you and a pretty girl you barely know hanging out, eh? Throw this on.
Though that may be an oversimplification of the subtle gem that Air's debut is, it is nonetheless advice I would stick to.
2Aphex Twin
Selected Ambient Works 85-92

Before Aphex Twin threw his insecurities out in the open, he was brilliant at
creating a simpler and easier to listen to sound. There may be a brooding sense in the background
of many tracks, but they're hidden behind such gorgeous beats that never have
or will be recreated.
3Boards Of Canada
Music Has the Right to Children

If you're looking for straight up chill music, the others probly have you better
covered. But this album is too similar and too freaking good not to put on
here.
4Bonobo
Black Sands

The only Bonobo I've ever heard was their last album, and man is it a good
one. Mesmerizing beats make me smile as I wade through an incredibly well made trip hop album. Can't wait to get into their older
stuff.
5DJ Shadow
The Private Press

Slightly easier to approach than Endtroducing, even if some say it lacks the same
flow. This fairly straightforward album gets more and more layered and deep
the more you listen, and 'Blood on the Motorway' still stands as Shadow's
magnum opus.
6Lotus
Nomad

You probably haven't heard of these guys -- and that's a mistake. Being a
kind of fusion between Phish and Aphex Twin, their music has been dubbed
jamtronica (electronic jam band). Constantly touring and playing big festivals
to clouds of weed, and hippies on all sorts of drugs, they are a band to watch in the
coming years as well as one you have to see live if they're coming to a town
near you. (sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1syZXrL9WA4)
7Massive Attack
Protection

Easy to approach, super likable, and very solid all the way through.
'Protection,' 'Sly' and 'Three' stand out as truly phenomenal tracks on an album
that flows so well. Though Mezzanine is a better album, that doesn't quite fit most people's definitions of chill. Nonetheless, along
with Blue Lines, this is probably where you want to start getting into the kings
of trip-hop that are Massive Attack
8Thievery Corporation
The Mirror Conspiracy

Loungy reggae that's smooth as fuck. An album that's truly impossible to dislike
9Trentemoller
The Last Resort

If there's no music in the background right now, and I haven't convinced you to
flip any of the previous 8 albums on. Just flip this one on now. Seriously, you totally should.
10Zero 7
Simple Things

Moon Safari just ran its course and you're still not making out with her? Flip
this on. Not quite as perfect a flow as Air's Moon Safari (item 1), 'Destiny' and 'In the
Waiting Line' could nonetheless be the best of their kind
