July Johnson

The releases I'm excited about in July. Tell me what I've overlooked.
1 Cold
Superfiction

Hopefully Scooter has purged all his bad ideas on the heap of garbage that was The Killer and the Star.
2 sleepmakeswaves
...and so we destroyed everything

Cliche band and album title aside, these guys are a really solid and underappreciated post-rock act.
3 Fair to Midland
Arrows & Anchors

Love these guys.
4Unearth
Darkness in the Light

One of the few metalcore bands I still feel obligated to keep relatively current with.
5 Brian Eno
Drums Between the Bells

Haven't checked out nearly enough Eno stuff.
6Incubus
If Not Now, When?

Early buzz is that this is disappointing. I hope not, since their past few albums have been consistently excellent.
7 City of Ships
Minor World

Thrice + Rosetta = Pretty flippin' awesome.
8 Kanye West & Jay-Z
Watch the Throne

This might(?) come out next month. I didn't know a single album could contain that much ego, though.
9 3 Doors Down
Time of My Life

Probably gonna be boring, but still miles above average radio rock.
10 Crone
Endless Midnight

Dude from Isis starts up a new project. That's enough for me.
11 How to Dress Well
Just Once EP

I'll take what I can get from these cats.
12 Source Code

Not nearly as good as Moon, but still a well above average sci-fi picture. Especially if you ignore the last ten minutes.
13 Insidious

Surprisingly effective haunted house (well...) movie. Creepier than Paranormal Activity, in my opinion, and it resists the Saw franchise's tendency to mistake gory for scary.
