| Albums That Have Bestowed a Positive Opinion of Themselves on Me
You know the drill - my favorite ten albums, pretty much, give or take a few borderline choices. rIf I did this list tomorrow it'd probably be completely different.....Also, IN NO PARTICULAR rORDER | 1 | | Fugazi In On The Kill Taker
Possibly their most abrasive album, the guitars sharp as machetes and the
vocals hoarse. But somehow, be it focused songwriting or easily-
remembered slogans, this manages to be the most accessible album from
Ian McKay's bunch of fucking legends. Interchangeable with 'The Argument' | 2 | | Television Marquee Moon
Because of the guitar. And the great songs. And the guitar. And Tom
Verlaine's 'swallowed the wrong end of a pineapple' voice. But mostly the
guitar. | 3 | | Sonic Youth Murray Street
Minus the disappearing-up-it's-own-backside end of 'Karen Revisited, pretty
much flawless guitar interplay throughout, interspersed with perfect world
weariness from Thurston, the ginger god. | 4 | | Wilco Summerteeth
I do like music with tunes too yknow!
And this pop masterpiece has some of the best, despite the none-more-
grim lyrics. CAN'T STAND IT. 'nuff said. | 5 | | Jawbox For Your Own Special Sweetheart
Brutal pop music. With emphasis on the Brutal. With a capital 'B'. 'Savory'
shouldn't work, but it most definitely does. | 6 | | Ash Intergalactic Sonic 7s
This compilation alone justifies punk-pop. It's all about the chorus, don'cha
know.... | 7 | | Outkast Aquemini
'Liberation' is my favorite track of all time.
Rest of the album 'aint too shabby either! | 8 | | Minutemen Buzz or Howl Under the Influence of Heat
It ISN'T Double Nickels....and it's not technically an album. But dammit do I
love 'Cut'. 'Little Man With A Gun In His Hand' might be the best alternative
rock song the pixies never wrote. | 9 | | Pavement Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
Slacker dons of weird melodies and oblique lyrics. Beloved by hipsters the
world over. And me. I cried when P4k voted 'Gold Soundz' as the best song of the 90s. 'Hit The Plane Down'
is miles better . *ahem* | 10 | | Squarepusher Hard Normal Daddy
Because everyone needs a bit of schizo drill n' bass jazz funk dance fusion
in their life, right?! | |

07.10.11 | Nice grammar. | jefflebowski
07.10.11 | It's irony, i promise!
But i'll change it, just for you, dear heart. | Witness
07.10.11 | You would do that for me! You're too kind. | jefflebowski
07.10.11 | Hey, why would I be trying to do that, I love the album! | porch
07.10.11 | 1,2,3,5,8,9

07.10.11 | (in reply to sehguh) | jefflebowski
07.10.11 | I thought I'd indulge myself for once, but I see what you mean. Nothing wrong with enthusiasm though :) | jefflebowski
07.10.11 | Also, porch, the ones you picked are probably my favorites from there. Especially the fugazi. Seriously, if I wasn't limiting myself to one album per band, most of their discography would be in there.... | porch
07.10.11 | yeah one of the most consistently great bands ever
in on the kill taker is my fav on some days as well | jefflebowski
07.10.11 | I tend to alternate between that and the argument. I'm rockin' red medicine a fair bit at the moment though, also great | deepintheorchard
07.10.11 | Which end of a pineapple did he swallow? They both seem sort of wrong... | jefflebowski
07.10.11 | hah, good point, but i was thinking of the green, spiky end | bungy
07.10.11 | Awesome tunes here |
