Stuff I've Been Jamming On Recently

Albums and bands I'm digging recently. If you're here to tell me "core" bands suck, fuck you.
1Stick To Your Guns
The Hope Division

This band's previous albums were way different and a lot less enjoyable for me. I love
this album so much. It's super catchy and makes you wanna move (for lack of a
better term). I'm not sure if they changed vocalists, but it seems likely.
Awesome album.
2Attila
Rage

Fallacy is just, well, bad. Bad. Soundtrack To A Party had it's cool moments but
all in all, was nothing special. Then all of the sudden, Rage comes out. This
album has some of the most unique vocal work I've heard in a while. The guitar
is also pretty sweet at some points. It's fun to listen to for fun. If you're looking
for something really groundbreaking, go somewhere else, however. Also, the
lyrics suck.
3For The Fallen Dreams
Back Burner

Their previous releases were pretty sweet but never really made me want to
keep listening. Besides a few tracks. I honestly, love this album. The cleans are
great and the rhythms are nice. The guitar is fun and simple as usual, the
drumming is fits the music superbly, the bass is good. There's not really much
to say about the vocals except that they're good. They're the same as the last
two albums. Visceral and catchy. Great album from these dudes. From my
hometown, by the way. Da Murda Mitten. Detroit.
4Sleeping Giant
Kingdom Days In An Evil Age

I never really listened to them before this album, but I gotta say, I'm really
loving it. The vocals are super great and it borders on being generic in some
points but it's very original in others. The generic parts are fun though. I've
gone back and listened to Dread Champions Of The Last Days and Sons Of
Thunder. I like both, Dread Champions being my favorite of the two, but this
album surpasses everything.
5The Ghost Inside
Returners

Oh god. This is fantastic. Every song is super great. The drumming is top notch
and I love the way the guitars aren't super heavy but still create a great beefy
tone and atmosphere and allow the vocals to really shine. The lyrics are good
and the breakdowns. Those breakdowns. They're not stupid generic deathcore
breakdowns though. They're truly, just great. Check this album out. Between
The Lines, Chrono, Through The Cracks, and Unspoken rock.
6Bad Meets Evil
Hell: The Sequel

Eminem and Royce Da 5' 9" bring a pretty dope album out. It's got some damn
good beats and the rapping is pretty ferocious. Songs like Fast Lane and Living
Proof are fast and super catchy, while songs like Lighters are a lot softer, but
still remain catchy. Knowing the artists on this album, they honestly probably
didn't write everything themselves, but it's still an awesome release. Also from
my hometown.
7For Today
Breaker

It seems as if this band wanted to go for a somewhat less Christian (barely, but
less) and more metalcore sound. The Christian part isn't a big deal, but genre-
wise, they made an awesome decision. While I like Ekklesia and love Portraits,
this album is the best out of the three. I love the vocals and the drumming and
the guitar and the bass and everything. The only thing I think they really could
lose is the sermon-like interludes. Every song on this album stands out in some
way and I really enjoy every one of them.
8Dance Gavin Dance
Happiness

While I love any form of Dance Gavin Dance, Happiness is by far their best
album and is where their musicianship and song writing skills comes out in a
positive way the most. Every track is fun in it's own way and goes from
nonsensical and silly (Self-Trepanation, Strawberry Swisher Part 1, Strawberry
Swisher Part 2), to fluid, conceptual, and enjoyable (Again both Strawberry
Swishers, as well as Tree Village, NASA, and Carl Barker). Every song is really
good though. Will Swan is an incredible guitarist. While I enjoy the vocals Jonny
Craig has to offer, I think Kurt's are more enjoyable and fit the band better, to
be honest. If you're just getting into them or want something fresh and new,
here ya go fellas.
9Oceano
Depths

Oceano are a super unique deathcore band. They're really not generic and Adam
Warren is a monster at vocals. The breakdowns are super groovy and great and
the whole album flows together superbly. Oceano are one of the deathcore
bands I can say I love. Deathcore is really a love or hate genre and is filled with
some really shit generic bands. Oceano are incredible, honestly. Check this
album out. The drumming is awesome too. Super fast and clean.
10Defeater
Empty Days And Sleepless Nights

One of my favorite albums ever. I love Defeater so much. I can't really say too
much about this though cause it's too good. Just, listen to it. Also listen to
Defeater's Travels and Lost Ground albums and La Dispute's Somewhere At The
Bottom Of The River Between Vega And Altair, Vancouver, Never Come Undone,
Searching For A Pulse/The Worth Of The World albums and their three Hear,
Here EPs. And Touche Amore's ...To The Beat Of A Dead Horse, Parting A Sea
Between Brightness And Me, and Self-Titled. Just thought I'd put those out their
because emotional hardcore is an amazing genre.
