seifer
11.09.11 | missing maggot brain mainly and a few others but quite good |
FruityCatOfDoom
11.09.11 | the songs are all 70's or 80's. okay list though. 8 should be higher. sort of cliche though. |
zxlkho
11.09.11 | Ugh... no, just no. |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | Thanks |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | Why no? |
zxlkho
11.09.11 | No disrespect intended, but listen to more music. |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | I guess I am more into 80s and 90s music but thats not a limit. I am respectful to every qualified music. For example Fuzz
Universe is from 2 years, Breaking All Illusions is from 2 months ago.. |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | I listen to music all the time :) |
Eulogize
11.09.11 | Yeah, listen to moar deathcore. |
zxlkho
11.09.11 | Yeah but Breaking All Illusions is from a band that has been releasing the same album since Images and Words. So yeah. |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | Like what eulogize? |
zxlkho
11.09.11 | lol don't listen to deathcore. |
Eulogize
11.09.11 | Molotov Solution - Insurrection |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | Are Images & Words and Train of Thought/Systematic Chaos same :) |
Eulogize
11.09.11 | Dude, deathcore has these things called breakdowns. They're like solos, but better. |
zxlkho
11.09.11 | Well no, because the former is a 5 and the latter two are complete shit.
You should check out maudlin of the Well. |
JamieTwort
11.09.11 | lol Eulogize. |
zxlkho
11.09.11 | Check out Haken, Riverside, Opeth, Anathema, Tool, Karnivool, and Porcupine Tree for good modern progressive music. All have better solos than most listed here.
Also Megadeth destroys Metallica. |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | I listened to Opeth, Anathema and Porcupine Tree. I will check the others. I both love Megadeth and Metallica. Megadeth is very dynamic, energic and fast. Metallica's music is creative and powerful. But my favourite two solos from the are both Metallica solos. If I could add a third solo fron them that would be Tornado of Souls probably.. |
zxlkho
11.09.11 | Yeah Tornado of Souls is my favorite solo from them. They have a few other great ones as well.
You should also check out Buckethead since you like guitar solos so much lol. He's got some great stuff, even if it's hard to find among his 30+ albums. |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | OK, I will check |
JamieTwort
11.09.11 | I like most of these solos. |
Aids
11.09.11 | pretty good (if somewhat predictable) list
1 is 1 so good job |
Divine
11.09.11 | Classic Rock ftw |
KILL
11.09.11 | la villa strangiato |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | Thanks |
Divine
11.09.11 | ^ yes, so much KILL |
Eulogize
11.09.11 | Check out King Conquer's America's Most Haunted for some nice thrash with a bunch of solos and stuff |
Destructerator
11.09.11 | List is pretty legit |
AngelofDeath
11.09.11 | Three Dream Theater solos and you didn't even pick the best one? |
zxlkho
11.09.11 | Lines in the Sand live is their best solo. |
JamieTwort
11.09.11 | Nah it's Best of Times. |
AngelofDeath
11.09.11 | Best of Times, hands down. |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | Lines in the sand is my forth actually! What is your favourite AngelofDeath? |
RooseveltsGhost
11.09.11 | Batur, if you're a Porcupine Tree fan, why isn't Shesmovedon or Way Out of Here on this list? |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | I'm not actually, I am just willing to be a fan. I'm listening to them but not much |
pissbore
11.09.11 | wheres murphy |
inspectorK
11.09.11 | tornado of souls? blackbird? |
bloc
11.09.11 | Great list.
Good call on 9 |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | @bloc thanks man I believe that Paul Gilbert is one of the most skilled guitarists of today. After watching him live in Istanbul three weeks ago, I can say that he is a perfect shredder!
@inspector If I had a list with 17-18 songs there would be Tornado of Souls |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | @pissbore Forgive my illiteracy but I dont know Murphy |
DominionMM1
11.09.11 | Check out Haken, Riverside, Opeth, Anathema, Tool, Karnivool, and Porcupine Tree for good modern progressive music. All have better solos than most listed here.
tool solos lol |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | What do you mean by tool solos? I didnt listed these songs according to their shred speed, I tried to put solos that makes me/you/everybody feel something. If I do a list according to the speed the list would be full of John Petrucci(DT), Steve Vai and Paul Gilbert stuff... |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | By the way I listen to Anathema I listened to them live this year in Turkey :) |
AngelofDeath
11.09.11 | The best two solos are Megadeth's Tornado of Souls and Children of Bodom's Kissing the Shadows. |
theboynamedpink
11.09.11 | Check out Dark Matter by Porcupine tree and The Spirit Carries On by Dream Theater.
November Rain's solo is sooo good. |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | Children of Bodom is so heavy, crazy and dark for me actually. Death metal is not one of the typical genres that I listen to... |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | I will surely check qualified Porcupine Tree stuff. I surely know The Spirit Carries On, I know every single Dream Theater song. |
porch
11.09.11 | various solos by neil young, wipers, television, chrome, thin lizzy, jesus lizard, silkworm, meat puppets, funkadelic etc if you want good ones
|
IAmHollywood
11.09.11 | check out fall out boy they have righteous guitar solos even though they're emo m/ |
Zorak
11.09.11 | don't listen to Eulogize. But that aside, FREEEEE BIRRRRRRRRRD YEAH! |
Eulogize
11.09.11 | No, no. Listen to me. |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | @porch If you specify these artists and bands with songs it would be better for me to find the better tracks...
@bringthejunz :D
@eulogize I don't know man everybody is against your ideass :D |
JamieTwort
11.09.11 | ^awesome solo. |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | I will check! |
TheNotrap
11.09.11 | Indeed. Comfortably Numb is the best solo ever made.
David Gilmour's Time and Money leads are also amazing, however his solos on High Hopes, Hey You, Sorrow and On the Turning Away are even better IMO. David did the best guitar work I've ever heard.
If you wish take a look:

My fav solos.
Cool list dude. Unusual for your age. |
InAbsentia
11.09.11 | Another Rolling Stone list. |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | I didn't check a Rolling Stone list actually. These solos from songs are all from my thoughts. By the
way, is it forbidden to listen to popular stuff? Do you have to be listening to the unknown bands to
be deep in music? Can't you be a music fan by listening to the material you want? What happens if I
want to listen to Pink Floyd instead of an unpopular progressive band which makes similar music to
Pink Floyd? Can't I listen to Queen? Dream Theater is the most popular progressive metal band.. So
what? I shouldn't be listening to Dream Theater just because there are some other bands that nobody
found which make progressive metal? You are funny, not wise. |
InAbsentia
11.09.11 | No, but it shows that you only listen to what people feed you. |
BaturTogay
11.09.11 | Actually what people feed you these days are fake music made on computers without any work and creativity buddy...
Okay, let's say that I am listening to what people tell me. Then tell me a better guitarist than Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, John Petrucci etc. Tell me a more creative person who makes better music than them, tell me a more talented person who shreds better than them...... |
InAbsentia
11.09.11 | No. He music industry feeds people plenty of different things because people tend to have different tastes.
You have no idea how big the underground scene is. You're only 16, you'll see. Keep posting here and your taste will improve in no time. |
pissbore
11.09.11 | where's murphy [2] |
Jethro42
11.09.11 | Lots of grat solos on here. I think my all time fave is Camel's Stationary Traveler (studio version is still better);
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aSBP2eLlxk |
RooseveltsGhost
11.09.11 | First of all, listen to Scale the Summit. Chris Lechtford is one of the rarer breed of guitarists out there who puts creativity and tastefulness into his mad shredding.
Secondly, listen again to Petrucci's solos in The Count of Tuscany, as well as A Nightmare to Remember. Those are two of my favorite Petrucci-doodlys. |
rockandmetaljunkie
11.09.11 | good list
Bands like Floyd, Zeppelin, Skynyrd, Tallica, Queen, The Eagles will always be obvious choises on
such lists cause their music is very famous and timeless at the same time. But we should not forget
some artists who contributed greatly with awesome musical pieces. Bands like Budgie, (as Sonic said)
Lord Baltimore, Diamond Head, Thin Lizzy and solo artists like Gary Moore, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Rory
Gallagher.
Unfortunately most these guys faced many problems and never achieved worldwide fame. But sth that's
not famous doesn't mean it's not actually good.
InAbsentia has a point: you are still young and you have much yet to hear. But you are in a good
way. You're heading towards the right direction.
Btw, there are much better guitarists than Steve Vai. |
barbarian
11.13.11 | Try getting into the Allman Brothers if you haven't already. Could lead you down an entirely new path of music you never couldve imagined. |
Enver
11.17.11 | List is too classic if you dont consider paul gilbert an petrucci but it is your musical taste.I suggest you to listen more guitar virtuosos |
BaturTogay
11.18.11 | Okay |
JamieTwort
11.19.11 | Good to see 14 here, Martin Barre is very underrated. |
JamieTwort
11.19.11 | "List is too classic if you dont consider paul gilbert an petrucci but it is your musical taste.I suggest you to listen more guitar virtuosos"
Gilmour's solo in Confortably Numb destroys most solos by any so called virtuosos IMO. |
TheNotrap
11.19.11 | 150% Agreed |
ShousoStrip
11.19.11 | *yawns* |
ShousoStrip
11.19.11 | Also, I believe that this is a troll list and this guys is just a parody of your average teenage rocker! |
geng
11.19.11 | Comfortably Numb is without question the best guitar solo ever imo. But I'm not sure what Bohemian Rhapsody is doing on here, not a great solo. I also hate the solo on Free Bird, it's waaaay too long and repetitive. Not a bad list overall though. |
pissbore
11.19.11 | where's murphy [3] |
BaturTogay
11.19.11 | @Jamie enver is probably more into the shredding stuff not feeling... %150 agreed2
@geng Thanks, bohemians solo is so special to me but i wont discuss musical tastes :)
