12.07.11 | And only rec me the really good stuff please! |
InAbsentia
12.07.11 | You've probably heard Isis and Neurosis already. If not, try Panopticon by Isis and The Eye of Every Storm by Neurosis.
Other recs:
The Mire - Vol. II
The Waters Deep Here - Sunden |
Metalstyles
12.07.11 | Isis bore me but strangely enough I am yet to check out Neurosis. Thanks for the other two. |

12.07.11 | You've probably heard Isis and Neurosis already. If not, try Panopticon by Isis and The Eye of Every Storm by Neurosis.
This. But check out Neurosis' entire discog. I'll also rec Mouth Of The Architect and Minsk. |
InAbsentia
12.07.11 | "I am yet to check out Neurosis."
That's all you need, really. Listen to their discography and become obsessed.
Weird that you don't like Isis. Maybe you should try them again? |
DominionMM1
12.07.11 | but srsly, neurosis is the only post metal youll ever need
there is some truth to that. No other band in the genre even compares. But it's good to listen to some of these other bands to keep things fresh. |
Metalstyles
12.07.11 | @InAbsentia
Maybe. To be fair, I have only given chances to Oceanic and Wavering Radiant, not Panopticon. But neither of the former two impressed me.
And I finally need to look into Neurosis, noted. |
InAbsentia
12.07.11 | Check out Panopticon with an open mind. I'm sure you'll love it. |
InAbsentia
12.07.11 | Don't listen to Riff, Metalstyle. He's stoned, apparently. |
Fugue
12.07.11 | Devil Sold His Soul gogogogogo |
Metalstyles
12.07.11 | @Ross
already know, and love, DSHS. If I had 6 albums on this list, they'd be #6.
@Riff and InAbsentia
Riff, you can be certain that I'll look into Neurosis, but at the same time, I don't think there's no harm in trying out Panopticon too. After all, I am after good post-metal here and that album is held in high regard. |
Fugue
12.07.11 | Oh hey Magnus, didn't realise it was you lol. |
InAbsentia
12.07.11 | "its much better than panopticon imo"
Except it's not. |
Metalstyles
12.07.11 | @Riff
I redirect you to my above comment regarding Oceanic ;)
@Ross

12.07.11 | I forgot to mention 'Streetcleaner' by Godflesh. Not really PM per se, but it's heavy and has great atmosphere. |

I haven't yet gotten into Godflesh, sadly :(
@eternium
Thanks a lot man, I haven't heard about half of those that are on there, the list will be of good assistance. |
Fugue
12.07.11 | Heh funny, I downloaded it last night. Only listened to the first 2 tracks before sleeps but it was super duper and I'm about to stick it on now while I get some work done. There's a Rosetta/Junius split from this year that may or may not be good - I haven't heard it yet, but other than what's already been listed that's about as much as I can do for you man. |
Metalstyles
12.07.11 | Aight, awesome. And yea, now that you mention it, I remember the Rosetta split thingy. I should look that up because of Rosetta (don't even know the other band). |
Relinquished
12.07.11 | well you NEED to get into Godflesh magnus it's a must. as well as Neurosis. it's post-metal heresy to not.
as for Isis keep trying Oceanic again if it bored you. you should check out Celestial too from them, it much heavier than their recent stuff.

12.08.11 | Czar - Vertical Mass Grave
They're twitchy, proggy, post metal. I'm going to see if they'll let us stream the album on the site, but in the meantime: http://czarchicago.bandcamp.com/ |
Willie

Neurosis are obviously the kings of Post-metal, but there's much variety in the genre, so it's good to listen to the some bands (like Dominion said). |
