04.24.12 | is spotify like last.fm, to where you have to connect your mp3-player or some such? and would they have like a full album available right there, or would you have to know the songs on the album and then search each of them...? that's been my M.O. using wikipedia and youtube, but i was just wondering if there was a better way to listen to music before i decide to buy an album that really sticks out. | MO
04.24.12 | if you mean for free then try out Grooveshark, basically type in the artist and BOOM free streaming of all the songs in their database by said artist, pretty sweet | Adabelle
04.24.12 | Lastfm, you connect it to your itunes/mediaplayer/whatever and when you play a track it "scrobbles".
After a while it will work out what you like and you can use it for recommendations/similar artists.
Spotify you make an account.
Can then search for albums/artists/songs and listen free.
They don't have everything but enough to make it useable.

04.24.12 | if you want to check out an album with the intent of buying it if you like it, just dl the albums. unless the hdd space required is problematic for you. | taylormemer
04.24.12 | I doubt he has a HDD. He probably stores info in some binary arrangement of bananas and apples. | jdennis31
04.24.12 | i pictured your binary arrangement of bananas and apples and it has me craving fruit. | TeknoMonkee
04.24.12 | i actually did test out the band Incubus on grooveshark. is it normal for there to be multiple albums with 3-4 songs each? i get the feeling it's somewhat like playlist.com to where people get to upload the tracks if they don't find it on the site, which leads to multiple copies of the same thing.
that's a helpful compare-contrast comment, thanks much!
i would go back to doing that, except that i only have access to my brother's desktop at the moment, and i'd like to respect his space. i've heard that external hard drives get pricey and i can't afford that right now according to him, so for the present i'm just trying to leave the space untouched.
don't say that, i'm not quite so ingenious if at all. |
