1Masta Ace
A Long Hot Summer

bbgames - This sounds like a mid-90s hip-hop album released in 2004. The problem with this is its highs never reach the best of that time period, and for the most part, it remains just slightly above average. I wouldn’t necessarily call it bad, but it didn’t impress me all that much. - 3
Bloon - I feel like this album was way too long for its own good, without any thing keeping me engaged. One thing I must give this record is that the skits are way more enjoyable than they have any right to be, to be completely honest. - 2.5
Sounds - like the story and Ace's personality, too bad he's not too interesting of a rapper. - 3.6
TVC - A Long Hot Summer: Damn right it's been a long hot summer. Beautiful beats, sublime flow, and brilliant rhymes. Nice to add another album to my summer soundtrack - 4.2
50 - Rapper has a cool flow and cool jams, but the album does get a bit stale. - 3.5

2Mike Patton
Adult Themes for Voice

bbgames - Mike Patton making noises that are given various effects for 44 minutes. That’s it. I can kind of understand why some people enjoyed this a bit because parts of it are borderline funny, but I despised it. It came off as one of the most gimmicky albums ever, and it didn’t seem to have any substance whatsoever. - 0.5
Bloon - alented man makes pretentious and offensively bad album on the same level of bullshit as Metal Machine Music and other classic shit records. Fuck you and your dumbass mouth noises, Mike Patton. - Fuck off (I'll take that as a 0.5)
Sounds - This is interesting (and polarizing) one. Just 40 minutes of Patton being playful and atmospheric with vocal sounds. You either get into it or you don't - 3.1
TVC - FUCK - 0.7
50 - Strangely enjoyable album due to its textures and production. Vocals are insane too. Sad part is the music fucking sucks. - 3

Climax

bbgames - Great post-punk that is held back by slightly murky production, and a decrease in enjoyment on repeated listens. This was enjoyable, but it isn’t something that I’ll revisit for a third time over the genre’s classics. - 3.5
Bloon - Sounds kind of like the Misfits became post punk during the apocalypse. I'm not a fan of the cloudy production, but there is some dope stuff to be heard here. - 3.5
Sounds - It's got a nice cloudy atmosphere that fits the dark vocals. Pretty catchy throughout, something you can really get into - 3.7
TVC - Interpol if they began incorporating post-2007 Killing Joke's apocalyptic doom and gloom and the atmosphere and rawness of deathrock. At first it felt weird that I'd be imagining such pandemonium with the bright colors of the album cover but it suits it very well; the clean production makes for a gnarly contrast with the raw energy. - 4.6
50 - Cool modern post-punk that flows really awkwardly. Second half is a banger tho. - 3.5

Horse Rotorvator

bbgames - Most of this album has a fantastic desolate atmosphere that is created through subtle repeating ambient industrial passages and somber vocals. I say most because one song holds this back from being something amazing: “Circles of Mania”. With this song, gone is all of the subtlety, and in its place is the vocalist making ape noises and screaming “FUCKING THE GROUND” repeatedly. They didn’t need to try this hard to be dark as demonstrated by the rest of the album. - 4
Bloon - Dark industrial that reminds me of what bands like Mr. Bungle, Ulver, and Summoning would go on to do in places, whether or not this was an influence. It's a tiny bit too long for its own good and some songs feel less subtle then others, but it still excels in strong songwriting and extremely visceral atmosphere. - 4
Sounds - Weew this has like no lasting power. Pretty cool in places, best parts were when it was manic af - 3.2

Horse Rotorvator

TVC - Like The Ape of Napals, the strange combination of neo-folk, industrial, and hints of neoclassical darkwave make me imagine the depraved society which inhabits the world of Victor Hugo's Hunchback of Notre Dame. Primitive yet lively; dark but with a colorful exterior. Too bad I feel the back half drags a too much for me to rate this higher. Hopefully the rest grows on me. Slur, Ostia, Penetralia and The Golden Section are stunning. - 4.3
50 - Ok, I didn't get it. At all. It's just an experimental album that falls flat on its face most of the time. I wish I would enjoy it. - 2.5

Kauan

bbgames - This was my favorite of the bunch. It’s neo-folk music that reminds me of early Ulver. Its strength lies in its melancholic mood that is created through repetitive songwriting and its ethereal melodies. This is one to get lost in, as it almost makes me feel as if I’m traversing whatever landscape is shown on the cover. Perfect for the sadboi hours. What holds this back from being a stronger 4.5 or even a 5 is that songs like “Revontulet” and “Etaisyyksien Taa”, although good, weren’t as jaw dropping as a song like “Hallavedet”. - 4.3
Bloon - A strikingly beautiful work that both show a vast knowledge of folk music and a vibrantly constructed atmosphere, which is complemented by the thought out compositions that let this album excel in all the right ways. - 4.5
Sounds - Not my thing at all, pretty boring but I can appreciate the composition and growth of it. - 2.9

TVC - The atmosphere was too good to not have any trems, blast beats, and m/ but that's a personal thing and my complete lack of exposure to this brand of folk. It's alright I guess, felt the compositions were too slow or didn't keep my attention. Hallaveder reminded me of the composition Un Amico in the best way possible tho. - 3
50 - Highly texturized and beautiful music with a run time way too excessive for its own good. - 4.0

Parallel Dimensions

bbgames - This is my first experience with this genre, and I have to say that it was consistently enjoyable. The trance inducing songwriting mixed with some slightly jazzy instrumentation made for a great experience. I could see myself revisiting this as study music because it seems to be perfect for that. All of this being said, this is a genre that I want to explore more in the future, and I’m not even sure if it was a good place to start, despite it being enjoyable. - 3.5
Bloon - I'm not huge on house music, but this is fun. Not extremely for me and it gets pretty repetitive, but I do like its jazzy sensibilities. - 3
Sounds - Hell yeah this is my shit. Nostalgic-sounding funky deep house. Easy to get lost in the hypnotic beats and vocal samples dancing back and forth - 4.4
TVC - House isn't my thing at all and apparently this is top tier stuff. Unfortunately considering how boring I found this I should probably stay away from the genre - 2.5

Rotting In Hell

bbgames - Fantastic OSDM with interesting vocals, quite a bit of energy, and most importantly of all, a good understanding of death metal songwriting. This was a great listen, and it’s one that I’ll revisit every once in a while. - 4
Bloon - Some sinister and powerful death metal that has a strong grip on what makes the genre so insanely intense and fun. - 4
Sounds - Pretty nice sound, can tell this would be a cult classic. Too bad it gets stale fast - 3.3
TVC - Death metal isn't a genre I actively listen to and I kept thinking "why am I listening to this when I could be listening to "Scream Bloody Gore" - 3.2
50 - Great old school DM with awesome production. Unfortunately, it gets repetitive at times. Guys really know how to end their songs well tho. - 3.5

Thoughts Of An Optimist

bbgames - This album just gave me the urge to turn on A Tribe Called Quest. Everything from the beats to his flow came off as generic making for a mediocre record. Also, the slightly high-pitched vocals got on my nerves dropping its score a bit. - 2 (I promise, there’s hip- hop that I like.)
Bloon - Reminds me quite a bit of A Tribe Called Quest, but it isn't up to snuff with something like The Low End Theory. It's a bad effort that didn't contain anything that didn't really contain much worth seeking out. - 2
Sounds - It's just so boooring. No energy present, lackluster beats. Not what'd I call a good hip hop album - 2.4
TVC - Illmatic 2 my ass. (Drifter ACTUALLY called it that) - 2.3
50 - Booooooring - 2.0

Time Waits for No Man

bbgames - This was by the numbers 90s hip-hop that never really caught my attention. It just kind of receded into the background after about 10 minutes, but it wasn’t anything offensive. - 2.5
Bloon - Lackluster hip-hop that goes no where and feels like it takes pride in its bountiful cliches. Nothing really anything offensive but not good either. - 2.5
Sounds - The boom bap beats are dope, Rasco has cool flow, albums just way too long - 3.1
TVC - Nothing out of the ordinary at all and for the love of God this did not need to be 18 tracks long. Odd hearing a dude repping the West coast sound so East coast tho. - 2.3
50 - As average hip hop gets. - 2.5

bbgames - Sludge metal usually puts me to sleep, but this album was an exception. Something about the songwriting seemed to grip me more than that of other albums in this genre. This, combined with the black metal style vocals, made for an incredibly dark atmosphere that I enjoyed throughout the entire album. - 4
Bloon - A doom and sludge combination that shows near mastery in its execution. It's a bit long and tiring, but its worth it and then some. - 4.5
Sounds - Pretty straightforward sludge with a different vocalist from what you would expect. Songwriting is good throughout - 3.4
TVC - heavy as fuck but because of that I'm not too sure this will have replay value with me - 4.2
50 - Sick sludge that riffs so hard m/ - 4.0
