Favorite Guitar Teams
Teams gives me more freedom than guitar duos, cause the more the merrier. A self-explanatory list, the order has no consequence, unless otherwise stated. |
1 | Cacophony
This had to be on here, just absolutely amazing, Becker and Friedman just complement each other so nicely, a standard pick that deserves to be #1. |
2 | Judas Priest
Created the dual guitar attack, and had some absolutely epic moments, just listen to Electric Eye/ The Hellion, just so amazing. Or really any Priest song, many of them highlight the team of Tipton and Downing. |
3 | DragonForce
Love them or hate them, they have made a name for themselves with fun dual guitar wankery. It is hard to imagine them without the twin attack of Li and Totam. |
4 | Iron Maiden
Another legendary guitar duo/ trio, depending on the album. Maiden is a band known for the dual and triple guitar parts that have defined their sound. Side note: letting Gers stay in the band was a class act. |
5 | Racer X
Another shred-rock act, Racer X has only 1 "big name" guitarist in Paul Gilbert, but he and Bruce (can't remember how to spell his last name) have some absolutely dual guitar work. |
6 | Periphery
Misha Mansoor, Jake Bowen, and Mark Holcomb provide the guitars for modern metal titans Periphery. With some insane down-tuning, Periphery's guitarists go against Mustaine's accusation of people down-tuning and having no skill. |
7 | Megadeth
Speaking of Dave Mustaine, he and Marty Friedman form the widely considered best Megadeth guitar team, and I can't disagree. Great albums (except Risk), and just killer riffs and solos, the two form an indomitable guitar duo. |
8 | Vektor
A newer release, but the guitar work in all of their albums is just astonishing. |
9 | Testament
Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson are one of the greatest guitar duos in thrash history. So much raw energy directed through epic music, absolutely amazing. |
10 | The Yardbirds
It had Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Jeff Beck. Need I say more? |
