It's best to discover these things early instead of wasting weeks, months, years on a relationship that was never going to work. It's just that you can't keep doing that for too long. That's being deceitful to yourself and the guy. At some point, you've gotta stop looking and take stock of what you have. From there, it's just a matter of deciding if any negatives you see outweigh the connection you feel with him. You most likely won't ever find the "perfect" guy. Even if there are no flaws at the present time, they will surely develop in the future. Such is the nature of being human. If you're both honest with each other and on the same page from early on, the relationship should be strong enough to overcome whatever comes in its way down the road.

There are always signs and it's good to keep your eye out for it but sometimes you have to just know that as a human being, or as a woman maybe, you're usually inclined to have moments where its just instinctive to you that something's wrong. Those are the crucial moments that you either ignore your gut and continue onwards with the relationship or you keep guard from then on. But yeah, pessimism and trying to expect the least from situations is a lot easier than being overly optimistic. I guess it's just a middle between the two you have to work out.
