When you have 3 guys who are obviously top 10-15 players in the league (top 5 in James and Wade's case) that are taking less than market value so they can form a "Super Team" -- it's almost like price-fixing in the business world. It hurts the value of other players, and in most cases player's unions will challenge the deal and try to void the signing
I think the fact that LeBron holds so much sway at the league office and in the union really prevented that from happening.

This means less competition in the long run and eventually Bud and Miller will be the only companies left standing, then they can charge whatever they want. There's a reason it's illegal in business, and in most professional leagues a player's union will step in and prevent these effective "trusts" or "monopolies" from happening. |

So Carmelo Anthony's going to ask a team for more money than LeBron's making? I'm not saying he won't get it, but that principle is why player's unions usually nix deals that circumvent the cap like that because it hurts the average player's earning potential.
they're obviously allowed to do it, but I think most people agree that it's a punk/bitch move. It's the same reason you can void trades in a fantasy league. If there's a $500 prize for winning the league, and two different teams decide that they're just going to split the winnings, so Team A trades Aaron Rodgers to Team B for Matt Moore, and then also trades Darren McFadden for Chester Taylor -- it ruins the entire point of playing. |

We were sitting at the bar, waiting for our table, when some asshole who'd obviously been there since noon started talking shit about the Heat. I'm fine with that. Talk all you want. However, don't tell me I'm a bandwagon fan(like he did), especially when I'm wearing a jersey that hasn't been available in stores since 1997. He even told the bartender that I shouldn't be allowed in the bar, since I'm a bandwagon Heat fan. Funny.....
