KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Yeah, we don't need you. |
Emim
11.01.10 | Yeah fuck you, Lakers fo lyfffffffffffffffffffffe |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | C'mon guys! You know you want to leave the team of rapists and Lurch's and join the Heat Train. |
BigHans
11.01.10 | Moody Blues ftw |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | I don't think the Heat have had as many bandwagon jumpers as you might think... even in Miami.
The only sell-out crowd they've played in front of so far was in Boston, and they sell out every game. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | "The only sell-out crowd they've played in front of so far was in Boston, and they sell out every game."
That arena in MIA was sold out on Friday night, just everyone left midway through the third. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Blake, if you want to abandon your Bulls, I'd understand, but you have to do it now before it's too late. |
FadeToBlack
11.01.10 | what does this mean |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | lol you didn't read all the articles about the Heat not being able to sell out their home opener? |
JWT155
11.01.10 | Go Knicks. |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | also, anyone care to point out who the NBA's leaders are in points per game and rebounds per game?
;-) |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | "lol you didn't read all the articles about the Heat not being able to sell out their home opener?"
Lol, you didn't read the article from the Miami Herald stating that they got rid of the last 2500 tix about 3 hours before game time?
JWT, good luck with the Knicks. You're gonna need it. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | "also, anyone care to point out who the NBA's leaders are in points per game and rebounds per game?"
I don't care if any of the Big Three are "leaders" in statistical categories. That's not what this is about. This is about winning rings, and the last two games, the Heat have put on a clinic. |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | yeah the Heat have looked awesome the last two games, and they will continue to look awesome as long as they're healthy. but I don't think they could take healthy Boston or LA teams in 7 game series |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | C'mon, Blake. Just put your name down on this piece of paper *holds out clipboard* We'll welcome you with open arms and a personalized Lebron James 6 Jersey. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | "yeah the Heat have looked awesome the last two games, and they will continue to look awesome as long as they're healthy. but I don't think they could take healthy Boston or LA teams in 7 game series"
Dude, they manhandled the Magic, who have a much better(and younger) big man than both of those teams. |
JWT155
11.01.10 | Yes, the Knicks do need help, future looks a lot brighter though the most of the past decade. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Oh, agreed. But they're still the perfect example of futility and bad decisions. |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | yeah but the Heat can handle ONE big man -- the problem comes when the Lakers put Odom at SF, Gasol at PF and Bynum at C. Or when the Celts are rotating Pierce, Perkins, Garnett, Shaq and Big Baby down low. Bosh and LBJ won't get dirty in the post, and Haslem can only do so much.
Plus, you saw how terrified Bosh looked playing against that Boston frontcourt. He looked like he was about to piss himself at any given moment. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Yeah, but the complaints about big men are pretty much null, because once Bosh gets comfortable, he'll stretch the post and pull those big men outta the paint, opening up lanes for Wade and James to take over. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | I'm still waiting for your signature, Blake. I have the jersey in hand. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Okay, so someone else is buying into Psycho Gilbert's voodoo magic. |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | yeah, karma man. I actually am surprised the player's union didn't get involved when they signed their deals -- claiming salary cap circumvension or something. When you have 3 guys who are obviously top 10-15 players in the league (top 5 in James and Wade's case) that are taking less than market value so they can form a "Super Team" -- it's almost like price-fixing in the business world. It hurts the value of other players, and in most cases player's unions will challenge the deal and try to void the signing
I think the fact that LeBron holds so much sway at the league office and in the union really prevented that from happening.
so karma should come into play at some point. |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | for instance, if Budweiser and Miller decided that they were going to make a secret deal that they won't charge over $10 for a case of beer for the next 3 years, that would be illegal. The reason being, Bud and Miller are such huge companies that they can absorb the losses or lower profit margins from charging less for their product and still survive. But by doing that, it violates anti-trust laws because smaller breweries wouldn't be able to compete and would go out of business.
This means less competition in the long run and eventually Bud and Miller will be the only companies left standing, then they can charge whatever they want. There's a reason it's illegal in business, and in most professional leagues a player's union will step in and prevent these effective "trusts" or "monopolies" from happening. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | So wait..... you're now saying a player isn't allowed to join up with another player because each player makes a certain amount of money? C'mon Blake, just sign the form already! |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | lol that's not what I'm saying
I'm saying that if LeBron James is making $14 million per season (i.e. not the max) then WHO exactly does deserve the max? So Carmelo Anthony's going to ask a team for more money than LeBron's making? I'm not saying he won't get it, but that principle is why player's unions usually nix deals that circumvent the cap like that because it hurts the average player's earning potential.
they're obviously allowed to do it, but I think most people agree that it's a punk/bitch move. It's the same reason you can void trades in a fantasy league. If there's a $500 prize for winning the league, and two different teams decide that they're just going to split the winnings, so Team A trades Aaron Rodgers to Team B for Matt Moore, and then also trades Darren McFadden for Chester Taylor -- it ruins the entire point of playing. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | So now you're complaining about someone taking less money? What's next?
"HOLY SHIT!!! HE'S PUTTING FORTH EFFORT!!! CALL THE PLAYER'S UNION!!"
|
Inveigh
11.01.10 | c'mon dude, are you really missing the point that badly |
AggravatedYeti
11.01.10 | fuck the heat.
see your asses in the conference finals. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | No, I get what you're saying, but if Lebron would have come to the Bulls and the same thing happened, you wouldn't be complaining at all. |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | the point is the same thing wouldn't have happened if he came to the Bulls. he would have signed for the max, and we would've signed Boozer or possibly David Lee at market value to go with him
it wouldn't be three guys all taking $2-4 mil less than they're worth just so they could dominate the league with less competition |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | but I get what you're saying. IF the same thing happened, yes, I'd still root for the Bulls. and I don't blame you for rooting for your team, they were your team before any of that happened.
but LeBron and those guys act so shocked that people hate them, and his new commercial about "what should I do???" is so dumb. do they really not understand that they're like the NWO of the NBA? |
Cavs
11.01.10 | Miami is pathetic.
That city couldn't even sell out their playoff games last year. There where actually empty seats in the lower bowl.. Fake city full of fake people. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | You're right, Aggravated! You will see our asses in the ECF's. You'll see them as Wade, Lebron, & Company go to hug and celebrate a Conference Title. |
AggravatedYeti
11.01.10 | NOPE. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | "but I get what you're saying. IF the same thing happened, yes, I'd still root for the Bulls. and I don't blame you for rooting for your team, they were your team before any of that happened.
but LeBron and those guys act so shocked that people hate them, and his new commercial about "what should I do???" is so dumb. do they really not understand that they're like the NWO of the NBA?"
Don't you think he's acting this way because he wants to be the villain? I think he, Wade, Bosh, and Riles love this role. They want you to hate them. That way they can embarrass you when they win the title.
Be careful what you say, Cavs. That's my hometown. Can't be any worse than Slumsville, Ohio. Plus, don't you remember how EMPTY the Q was in Cleveland BEFORE Lebron got there? I rest my case.... |
Sowing
11.01.10 | go sixers, let's win the first overall draft pick! |
AggravatedYeti
11.01.10 | better than more AI. at least he's all they way in Istanbul now. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Yeah, but he's going to be a superstar in Turkey. |
BigTuna
11.01.10 | Pistons |
AggravatedYeti
11.01.10 | very true. He can win some Turkish League titles and finally get his ring. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | It's going to be a lot smaller, though. |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | I don't think LeBron relishes that role at all, Bosh or Wade either. Riley maybe, but I just don't think he cares.
I think LeBron is genuinely shocked that people don't love him anymore, he was the rare player that would get cheered in other arenas. Why else would he have made that butthurt commercial? Why would he be re-tweeting "mean" things people said about him and complaining that they're all "being racist"?
And you can't tell me Bosh isn't blindsided by this -- he looks like a deer in the headlights every time someone boos him, like he just had a runny fart and he's afraid the cameras are catching the diarrhea dribble down his leg...
lol sorry I might have gone too far with that one |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | "Why else would he have made that butthurt commercial? Why would he be re-tweeting "mean" things people said about him and complaining that they're all "being racist"?"
Because he knows you're going to hate him for it. |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | you don't honestly believe that do you? |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | I don't know. I don't know the guy personally, so I'm not going to be impulsive and say so. However, I like how you and everyone else act like you know what's going on with the guy. It's funny, considering most people haven't been within arms length of the guy, yet they need to voice their opinion.
I think I'm a hypocrite.... lol |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Now does anyone want to talk about how a whiny bitch like KG gets so much respect in the NBA? |
BigTuna
11.01.10 | I hate KG and LB, but that's always been the case b/c I'm a Pistons fan |
BigTuna
11.01.10 | shit, I hated MJ when he played |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Not because KG is the biggest bitch in the NBA? |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | yeah KG is the biggest punk on the court that I've ever seen. that's what was the worst part about the Miami Super Friends, they made me actually have to root for the Celtics in a game. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Yeah, but MJ didn't grab his head like he just got sliced open when someone grazed it with their pinky, look at the ref, wait for the whistle, and then walk away like nothing happened? |
BigTuna
11.01.10 | no I just hated MJ b/c he was on the Bulls. Love him now.
KG really is a bitch. And I hate it when they cut to him so he can unfurl a string of 100 million cuss words. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | He mans up against the smaller players, but backs down the second a player his size challenges him. He's a full-on bitch.
I'ma fullonrapist.... |
BigTuna
11.01.10 | And when he barks on the court - I literally want to smash my tv so I never have to see his face again |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | yeah, I saw him block Jarryd Bayless' shot during Bayless' rookie year (who is only about 6'0" in sneakers) and after he did it KG got down on all fours and barked like a dog the rest of the way up the court at Bayless.
just like how I've never seen anyone sitting injured on the bench in street clothes talk trash, until KG decided to scream at every single player in a Bulls uniform during their playoff series two years ago. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | He's a punk. I mean, at least Lebron plays the way he's supposed to. KG's like the bully in high school who just got embarrassed by the freshman who lives in his locker. |
BigTuna
11.01.10 | oh I hate him I hate him I hate him
not really
but pretty much |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | oh, and can we all marvel at this little gem of a quote from Chris Bosh on Friday?
“Really, it’s all about being on TV at the end of the day. Seriously. A guy can average 20 (points) and 10 (rebounds), and nobody really cares. If you don’t see it (on U.S. national TV), then it doesn’t really happen.”
Man, if only there were more guys in the league who "just cared about winning" like those guys down in Miami... |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Or maybe you just took it out of context to make yourself feel better that your Bulls aren't gonna finish better than 4th in the conference. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Plus, that little quote was made after he left the Raptors, not on Friday. Good try, though, Blake. It means alot that you're sticking to your values. |
BigTuna
11.01.10 | actually, they'll finish 3rd at least |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | lol I didn't take it out of context, that's how it's been reported by pretty much every news outlet that covered it
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/504818-chris-bosh-thinks-his-self-worth-is-judged-by-tv-time
|
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | http://www.tsn.ca/nba/story/?id=339118 |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Read that one and then come back and apologize for quoting him without anything to back it up. |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | yeah I heard that explanation, except there's no evidence to support that the reporter was asking Bosh about "how different players in the NBA are perceived" -- why would that question even be relevant to an interview with Bosh about leaving Toronto, since that's when the interview took place? |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | it seems to me that Bosh has less evidence to back up his side of the story than the other way around |
BigTuna
11.01.10 | can we maybe talk about how Bosh looks like an alien?
I'm pretty sure him, Charlie Villanueva and Sam Cassel are from the same space-clan |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Plus, that bleacher report article is an editorial, an opinion. And how do you know he didn't ask him that question and the reporter from TSN didn't take it out of context on purpose to hurt the guy, because he was leaving town? C'mon dude, you have to at least give someone the benefit of the doubt every now and then.
You wanna talk about Boozer? How he gives 100% effort some games and only about 60% others? Or the fact that he just disappears when crunch time comes around? Or how most of the NBA looks at him like a hired gun who will only give you his all if you pay him the right amount? No, lets continue to hate on the Heat just because they got the guy I WANTED! |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Bosh doesn't look like an alien. He looks like a catfish. |
BigTuna
11.01.10 | catfish/alien
just like Sam Cassel looks like a fish-alien...I'm telling you, same space-clan |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Probably. They come from the planet Slobovia, the seventh quadrant. |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | haha well right there I was hating on Bosh for saying something stupid into a microphone for like the 100th time this year, not hating on the Heat because they got a free agent that everyone wanted
obviously the Heat are the most talented team in the league, but there should be no problem with everyone but Miami fans thinking they're all a bunch of douchebags who took the easy way out |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Hold on, Blake. No offense, but could you make the second paragraph less convoluted please? |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | yes. no one likes an evil empire. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | I like being apart of the evil empire that is the Miami Heat. It's fun, and definitely makes all of this more exciting.
Quick story: I went out to eeat with the wifey on Saturday night to a sports bar in downtown Omaha. I was wearing my Glenn Rice jersey and my 2006 Championship fitted. We were sitting at the bar, waiting for our table, when some asshole who'd obviously been there since noon started talking shit about the Heat. I'm fine with that. Talk all you want. However, don't tell me I'm a bandwagon fan(like he did), especially when I'm wearing a jersey that hasn't been available in stores since 1997. He even told the bartender that I shouldn't be allowed in the bar, since I'm a bandwagon Heat fan. Funny.....
|
Inveigh
11.01.10 | lol I had a drunkard try to fight me on Saturday night -- he kept pointing at me from outside the bar (it was an open patio) saying "I'm gonna fuck you up white boy" in a very slurred manner of speech before eventually a cop showed up and dragged him away. I'd never seen the guy before in my life. He was also white. |
BigTuna
11.01.10 | lol |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Speaking of drunk Saturday nights, if you're ever in Omaha, avoid a sports bar called the Shanty. It's a decent place, more focused around "bar" than "sports." The two times I've been in their someone had to be dragged out by cops and/or bouncers, and both times those assholes challenged me to a fight.
I have a feeling my style doesn't fit in well with the locals here. |
BigTuna
11.01.10 | do you live in Omaha now? |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | About 25 minutes outside of Omaha, inbetween Chalco and Gretna |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | RosaParks pretending like he matters. |
BigTuna
11.01.10 | actually sports don't matter at all, they're just a blast |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | NFL blows college football out of the water |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Sorry Blake, I disagree on that. College is much more exciting. Every week is a playoff game, and those teams are fighting for their lives(except for the U, who seems to think it's okay to be 5-3. FIRE SHANNON!!)! There's tradition in the NFL, but not nearly the same as in college. |
TREO5
11.01.10 | Nowitzkis gonna poop all over the big three when they meet in the finals. |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | Just like he did with Wade in '06, right? Oh, that's right, I forgot! U.D. shut his ass down in '06! |
AggravatedYeti
11.01.10 | lol Dallas. |
dnor
11.01.10 | Just because our gm is smarter than all of your gms and pulled in Lebron and Bosh doesn't mean you have to be mad. All I gotta say is...."Haterz gonna Hate". |
KevinGarnett
11.01.10 | dnor definitely knows whats up |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | college football is great, and is much closer to the NFL than college hoops are to the NBA, but it will always be a frustrating season that seems directionless until they put in a playoff system |
dnor
11.01.10 | 3/5ths of our starters will be on the all-star team. |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | I wouldn't be so set on Bosh making the all-star team, he's averaging 13 points and 6 rebounds right now |
dnor
11.01.10 | probably not a starter, but i mean, when you're sharing the court with lebron and dwade, 13 points and 6 rebounds a game is pretty solid. |
BigHans
11.01.10 | dude 13 and 6 is not solid for someone of Bosh's caliber. |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | the 13 ppg could POSSIBLY be overlooked, but the 6 rebounds per game is pathetic. for a PF in the NBA who is supposed to be one of the top 3 guys at his position, you'd better average more than 6 rpg. Especially when you're easily the tallest guy in your team's starting line up. |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | Plus, the east has Kevin Garnett, Antawn Jameson, Carlos Boozer, Amare Stoudamire and Rashard Lewis competing at the same position as Bosh for a spot |
dnor
11.01.10 | well yeah, I suppose the 6 rebounds isn't impressive, but I mean, I don't think you can consider 3 people superstars when they play on one team. You're going to have to put one of them in the "support" player category, and that's what Bosh is on this team. I think he's doing fine. He'll only get better IMO (Oh and btw, I've been a HEAT fan since Dan "Thunder Dan" Majerle was on the team, so I definitely didn't just hop on the bandwagon. :D |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | right, but support players shouldn't be making all-star teams
I'm assuming Bosh's numbers will get better, but no PF averaging 13 and 6 should make an all-star team |
BigHans
11.01.10 | It wouldnt surprise me if Lebron out-rebounded Bosh this year. |
dnor
11.01.10 | Well in a counter-argument for this is a default that there aren't enough big players in the East anymore. Only "superstar" quality people to make the team are from Boston and Miami. Support players that are doing their jobs and doing well (which, granted, Bosh's numbers aren't there yet, but they will be...) are inevitably going to find their way onto the all-star team. |
BigHans
11.01.10 | this team is Lebron and Wade, Bosh is an afterthought. He was a great numbers guy on a bad team, nothing more. |
BigTuna
11.01.10 | dude Jason Maxiell and/or Ben Wallace will have a better rpg average at the end of the season than Bosh |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | Bosh is an overhyped Horace Grant on that team
let's detail some big men in the East who are already having great years: Joakim Noah, Dwight Howard, Andrew Bogut, Brook Lopez, Al Horford, Gerald Wallace, Roy Hibbert, Amare Stoudamire, Antawn Jameson...
not to mention guys like Boozer who are hurt right now, and SFs like Paul Pierce, LBJ, Iguodala, Maggette, etc.
The East is much more talented than a lot of people give it credit for |
Athom
11.01.10 | i'm on the heat hate train. i think it's gonna be another lakers/celtics final this year. the heat need a big post presence and need to work out some kinks before they can be worth the hype imo. |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | yeah, if both teams stay healthy I think it's another Lakers-Celts finals as well |
NigelH
11.01.10 | Celtics all the way. I'll love watching the Heat all season, but once the playoffs come, fuck em. |
NigelH
11.01.10 | By the way, as for KG...whiny bitch, or best pick and roll defender in the fucking league? I'm going with number 2. |
BigHans
11.01.10 | By the way, as for KG...whiny bitch, or best pick and roll defender in the fucking league? I'm going with number 2.
^ Both. Or moar like used to be one of the best defenders in the league. |
Inveigh
11.01.10 | he's still great defensively, but it doesn't change the fact that he pounds his chest when taking candy from a baby, and is all smiles and butt-slaps when he goes up against a guy that's even remotely close to his size/ability.
i.e. whiny bitch |
NigelH
11.01.10 | He definitely used to block more shots, but his on-ball defense is still unbelievable. |
