10.01.15 | playing in a noise rock band is the worst thing for your hearing |
Deez
10.01.15 | had bad tinnitus for 14 years. Sucks |
Keyblade
10.01.15 | alright man, do you |
Deez
10.01.15 | was from growing up in the hardcore scene in pubs with 30 people in there probably all stood 6 feet away from the amps. When I first got it I invited friends round and turned all the music/tv whatever off and asked the 'can you hear that?' like a madman. Thought it was a hissing from the tv! |
Keyblade
10.01.15 | damn dude that sucks. does it still bother you |
Archelirion
10.01.15 | This is something I've been worried about recently since someone I know has started getting signs of tinnitus. The main issue I have is ascertaining whether or not something I am listening to is 'too loud', i.e. shitting my ears up. Anyone got any pointers for being able to tell? |
BigBlob
10.01.15 | I've had tinnitus for about 5 years now. Pretty sure I got it after going to a KMFDM concert. I would NEVER go to a gig now without earplugs. And even if you dont have tinnitus I would recommend doing the same. |
BandNewbac
10.01.15 | it's usually too loud if your ears are starting to 'clip' naturally. just think if you can't hear all of the instruments and it sounds a bit distorted, turn it down. |
squaaab
10.01.15 | i always keep my shit at 1% |
Keyblade
10.01.15 | also if you're wearing headphones and you can't hear anything in your surroundings you should turn it down, especially if you're wearing open backs |
BandNewbac
10.01.15 | i have started to wear ear plugs when playing in my band so that helps i think |
evilford
10.01.15 | Lol jac |
Deez
10.01.15 | yeah for sure Blob. Its horrendous to deal with at first. It kinda blends in to the back ground after a while but always there. I used to look at guys at shows when i was young think 'why the fks he got ear plugs in!?' sniggering. Not laughing now. |
BigBlob
10.01.15 | yeh deezer666. it was getting to sleep that was the worst thing for me. I would be panicking about going to bed. Now I listen to white noise through a small speaker in my pillow that really helps. |
Mort.
10.01.15 | my ears have been fucked since i went to TFOT live a month or 2 ago without earplugs so yeah agreed

10.01.15 | noise is pretty much the only genre that translates aggression and animosity in a very human and self deprecating way. |
BigBlob
10.01.15 | cos it can be happy |
BigBlob
10.01.15 | isn't everything we listen to noise? I could record me smacking a glowstick off my balls and its technically noise |
BandNewbac
10.01.15 | i' be interested into how any noise could be happy
nihilistic attitudes are the driving force for a lot of the best noise artists. |
BandNewbac
10.01.15 | "isn't everything we listen to noise? I could record me smacking a glowstick off my balls and its technically noise"
when clearly referring to noise a style of music this statement is redundant. |
BigBlob
10.01.15 | I know. im just being a twat |
BandNewbac
10.01.15 | seriously have you ever given anything other than harsh noise a listen tho? |

10.01.15 | unfortunately living in the UK (specifically my area) means that if you aren't into Clean polished hardcore and metalcore beatdown bs, you can't really go to many shows. [2] Know that feel dude, unless I trek up to London or occasionally Southampton. It sucks. Also, that Plague Mother EP is glorious. |
DinosaurJones
10.01.15 | I should have worn ear plugs when I was younger, I only really started to this year whilst destroying my ear drums at band practice in a shitty little basement.
Now I wear them at shows, at practice, etc. I really wish I had started earlier. |
ScuroFantasma
10.01.15 | This scares me tbh |

10.01.15 | I choose not to listen to music at work when I potentially could and I feel like that's a pretty good decision. |
Ryus
10.01.15 | i already have tinnitus at age 15 so that's kind of unfortunate. now i'm much more aware about listening to music at deafening volumes and wearing earplugs and whatnot |
Keyblade
10.29.15 | not sure if this really works but someone on reddit seems to have found at least a temporary relief to tinnitus if anyone's interested

11.27.15 | I sometimes get this weird whooshing sound on one side. It's over quickly but it's still pretty disconcerting. Also, when it's really quiet - like in the middle of nowhere when it's windless quiet - I can hear a very low volume HNW at the back of my hearing. Might be blood flow or tension from the jaw or whatever. I guess my problems aren't very serious. |
Flugmorph
11.27.15 | sounds normal |
Zig
11.27.15 | Sometimes, my left ear makes a weird noise (like distortion or feedback), when I hear some notes or for no reason at all. Don't listing to music too loud or when I'm not at home. I think the problem is people can't get off of headphones, so they listen to music every moment when they're alone on the bus and stuff like that. |
Keyblade
11.27.15 | yep that's exactly it man. awareness is so important. imagine not knowing how much ur fucking up ur ears by turning up the volume on your iphone headphones to drown out the 100db bus sounds |
Flugmorph
11.27.15 | yeah i make sure to never crank my ipod up to full volume |
