Marco Minnemann previews upcoming album 2015-05-23 by Onirium | 2 Comments | German drummer and multi-instrumentist Marco Minnemann, renown for his work with jazz-rock trio The Aristocrats as well as as a session musician for Steven Wilson and Joe Satriani in recent years, has recently detailed his upcoming solo release, entitled Celebration.
Minnemann has described Celebration as more cohesive than his previous album, 2014's EEPS. The record will be developing his signature melodic, progressive and pop rock sound further, "with an overall more heavy rock approach and occasionally moving into dark and film music-like territories and interludes".
The musician, performing all instruments on the record himself, has previewed the album in a promotional video which you can view here, featuring drawings by Carolina Rodriguez:

One of my favourite drummers, never checked out his solo stuff though
| | | Quality-wise, his solo stuff is far from his work with Wilson and The Aristocrats, but it's generally fun and entertaining enough to be worthy of listening. EEPS and Symbolic Fox both are amusing and charming, and Evidence of Humanity and Broken Orange are not outstanding but nonetheless excellent experimental and jazzy albums. It's only recently that he's been developing his signature sound though, and this album sounds quite promising so far.
