"Freakfolk" singer-songwriter and incredibly talented harpist Joanna Newsom has announced her latest album. The album, entitled Divers, will be released on October 23rd via Drag City. Steve Albini contributed to the recording of this new album, whom Newsom has worked with before for the release of her album, Ys.

Here's the tracklist for Divers:

1. Anecdotes
2. Sapokanikan
3. Leaving the City
4. Goose Eggs
5. Waltz of the 101st Lightborne
6. The Things I Say
7. Divers
8. Same Old Man
9. You Will Not Take My Heart Alive
10. A Pin-Light Bent
11. Time, As a Symptom

As well as the announcement of the new album, Newsom has released a single and accompanying music video for the song 'Sapokanikan'. The music video was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, who recently featured Newsom in his latest movie, Inherent Vice.

Single is pretty damn cool, I'm pretty sure Divers is going to be just as good as her other LP's

@gorblethrop go listen to taylor swift if you care more about what an artist looks like than their work, dipshit.

haven't been able to devote the time to listen to the entirety of Ys or Have One on Me yet; I've liked what I've heard from both quite a lot, but I have to say this is my favorite song of hers that I've heard so far, I just love the momentum and arc that it has.
