Not sure how I feel yet. It's probably a grower.

I love how understated the verses are leading into that huge chorus. I love this but maybe not quite as much as Rolling Into The Deep, so we'll see, I am crazy excited for this album
| |
I'm just a sucker for stripped down piano and paired with her voice the verses sound amazing. The chorus is too "big" though, just like in half of her other songs.
| |
I'll have to check this out. I think I'm in the minority, but I really didn't get into Adele.
It's probably not that apt of a comparison, but I've always been of the opinion Florence & the Machine > Adele
| |
Her voice is perfect and this song is amazing.
| |
i can dig it. love me some soulful piano ballads
| |
eh chorus is a bit overblown. She has better songs.
| |
Pretty fantastic song tbh.
| |
I am not talking shit, because I know everyone likes what they like, but I can not believe the amount of users on this site that like pop.
| |
Agree with people saying the chorus is too overblown, just seems unnecessary.
| |
I mean, I see that you love Manchester Orchestra dbizzles, and pop is a big part of their music (they're one of my favorite bands as well). This isn't like a profound song or anything but her voice is amazing and it's more meaningful than a lot of the other mainstream stuff being put out recently, so I'm just curious what you mean by pop? not trying to sound butthurt or come off as offended or anything, just genuinely curious
| |
like many have said, chorus does the song no favors, but still pretty great all around
| |
Nah, just like... mainstream pop? I know I like some poppy stuff, but Carly Rae Jepsen (sp?), Taylor Swift, CHVRCHES, etc.
I don't know, just some of the stuff that gets featured here with overall positive scores surprises me. I'm not saying they are wrong, I just don't know if I could listen to more than 20 seconds from those artists.
| |
bummer for you brother, chvrches kick ass
| |
i'm dead https://twitter.com/Seinfeld2000/status/657546857317560320
| |
I do like their cover of Bela Lugosi's Dead, no lie. That's why I checked out some of their other stuff. I didn't care for anything else I heard, though.
| |
fair enough I suppose, was just wondering
| |
My type of lady, real hot #
| |
Still the best female voice in mainstream music, along with Sia.
| |
bleh
| |
@Evenoss: I dunno. Gotta go with Brittany Howard on that one.
| |
did we really need the first 1:20 minutes of the video?
| |
Song is really good.
Her little bumpy chin will forever be the only thing I stare at when I look at her =[ It's equivalent to a mole for me.
| |
as boring as ever
| |
Already dibbed this review, projecting either a 1.5 or a 5.
| |
shes so talantid
| |
This is a brilliant start! Really looking forward to this album!!!
| |
Can't stand her, no personality whatsoever as an artist. This does nothing to change that.
| |
She's really going out on a limb with that album title.
| |
I don't really see how you could say that Adele has no personality as an artist. She has way more personality in her voice, lyrics and songs that most other popstars at the moment have.
Haven't listened to this song, probably never will. She doesn't really interest me that much anymore.
| |
This is okay... was thinking they would go with a more upbeat song to start the new album cycle.
| |
"Can't stand her, no personality whatsoever as an artist. This does nothing to change that."
The no personality part is just plain wrong.
| |
yeah she's definitely got a personality, for better or for worse. not really digging this song tho
| |
Great voice
| |
I really don't get where there is a personality tho. Like I can't hear any passion or emotion in her voice, it just seems like she's trying to sing as powerfully as possible without a reason too. Could be wrong but that's just what I've heard.
| |
Admittedly, at times it feels like that to me too, especially when her songs end up so over the top as this does in the chorus. But for one thing her whole appearance seems far more natural than that of most other female pop stars of the last few years. More importantly, 21 was a whole album based on a failed relationship and how much of her was in that songs really showed on tracks like Set Fire To The Rain, Turning Tables or, of course, Someone Like You.
| |
Someone Like You had the emotion to back the voice
| |
Someone like You and Rolling in the Deep have a lot of emotion I don't get it.
| |
really digging this
| |
It's solid, Rolling In The Deep is definitely my favourite
| |
Adele is someone who goes both ways for me. songs like 'Rolling in the Deep' are great but then there's stuff like 'Someone Like You' which annoys the shit out of me.
Song's okay, though I can't see myself listening to it often.
| |
Whether you like it or not, this and subsequent singles are going to be fucking everywhere for the next 3 years or so
| |
eh point
good thing I don't listen to the radio anymore
| |
It'll be played in shops, restaurants, cars, barbers, hospitals, colleges, pubs, everywhere.
Mere mortals cannot escape Adele.
| |
yeah well the radio is where most of it is played anyways so I can avoid about 80% of it
| |
really like this song, lookin' forward to the album now!
She's a lot more enjoyable than most of the pop artists that get praised here honestly
| |
Skyfall was easily her best song though. That song always gives me chills.
| |
"skyfall" sucked imo, conchita wurst did it better with "rise like a phoenix"

| |
damn that chorus!
| |
This is great, nothing new from she, but still great.
| |
Good song . Finally ! Been waiting for a new song from her .
| |
Xavier Dolan tho.
| |
I've always thought both her previous works were really run of the mill, but I'm actually really into this. Maybe just because it's a lot denser that her usual pop singles.
| |
reminds me of this

song is phenom
| |
Adele got me missing people I don't even know. Love it
