I don't think QOTSA was ever like a "supergroup" and during ...Like Clockwork Josh Homme was the only official member and all the legendary musicians who showed up were more or less cameos

The band has stated that the album is packed with ideas and resembles way more CtS than the last two albums. I think it is Brand Daylor who said that it also has that ''missing quality'' the last two offernigs may have lacked.
