New Scars on Broadway material

2018-04-28 by Nat S. | 25 Comments
Scars on Broadway, the side project of System of a Down's Daron Malakian, has announced the release date of their second album and shared its lead single.

The album, titled Dictator, is due to be released on July 20th. It was originally recorded in 2012, but was delayed due to Malakian not knowing what was happening with SOAD. "Too much time has passed, and I'm really excited to finally get some music out finally," he told Blabbermouth.net.

The first single from Dictator, "Lives", can be streamed below.

Their s/t brings me a lot of nostalgia. I don't find it as horrible as some people say.
Should I bother with this?

Solid stuff, pretty much what I expected from a follow-up album by these guys. Nothing more, nothing less.
Jammed their s/t a lot back then.

And yeah, Daron's vocals aside, I guess the main problem with this band is that they sound a bit like Hypnotize-era SOAD outtakes.

The boys need to reinvent their sound, I guess. 10 years and still milking the sound of their debut :S

Still enjoy this tho.

That might be because Daron recorded the album in 2012.

Wowwwww didn't notice that in the news article.

2018 is becoming the year of nostalgia for me. First Skeletonwitch and now these guys, plus Joel Grind said that the new Toxic Holocaust record is almost finished >:]

“That might be because Daron recorded the album in 2012.”

I’m pretty sure he wrote it then but just recorded in now.

Either way, song rocks, quite enjoyed it.

You know what? With this kind of sound Scars on Broadway could totally cross over into stoner rock, and I'd love it.

Weirdly better than the majority of their stuff on their debut. Maybe I'm very cautiously optimistic.

This is solid but does sound like a discount SOAD track. If anything it does give me optimism that if SOAD do release a record, it'll be good.

Some awfully cheap and, uh, poor lyrics aside, this wasn’t too bad. Picks up right where the first album left off.

Urgh anyone else think this style sounds so stale and outdated now? His lyrics, vocals and guitar style gets old really fast. Really lost interest around the memorize/hypnotize days....like let fucking serj have the Mic for a second ffs. Then he got this band where he can stroke his ego without anyone to quality control it yep it sucks. Zero progression over 10+ years lol (chip on my shoulder or what)

Sadly I think this has finally allowed closure for me towards never getting new SOAD.

Yeahh, great guitarist but I've never been able to take Daron's vocals seriously - he sounds so ridiculous
