Skillet frontman's "heavy" side project

2018-09-28 by Toondude | 50 Comments
John Cooper, lead singer for the popular Christian rock band Skillet, has officially announced his new side project, Fight The Fury. The band includes four members, as well as Skillet guitarist Seth Morrison, and is what Cooper describes as "raw and unfiltered and emotional."

Cooper also stated that, "Fight The Fury is for all of the fans out there who like the heavy side of Skillet, but want a super heavy album. I hope they feel the emotion of the songs that we have put together because this project is for them."

Along with this, the band released their first single, entitled "My Demons" as well as their first EP, Still Breathing. The EP is scheduled to be released on October 26th.

"My Demons"

EP Tracklist:
1. My Demons
2. Dominate Me
3. Still Burning
4. I Cannot
5. Lose Hold Of It All

Honestly, unless the rest of the album is heavier, I feel like this could have easily just been a Skillet album and nobody would have questioned it too much.
That being said, this is more enjoyable than anything Skillet has released since Comatose, but this still doesn’t do anything for me.

When he says heavy and emotional does that mean he gained 50 lbs or something

lol probably

it might be because Skillet's last album was pure garbage but I actually thought this was ok, pretty catchy imo

Pretty generic, but it's still an improvement over Skillet's past two or three albums tbh.

Kinda just sounds like Skillet with okay riffs and occasional shouts/screams. Catchy I guess though.

Expected it to be more raw sounding from what he said. Sounds like skillet which is a little too over produced for my taste and the chorus is repeated way too much. The guitar sounds pretty good tho.

tbh I'm a bit of a defender of Skillet, granted their last album was trash but I honestly enjoyed Collide, Comatose, and Awake, hell I even enjoy the first half of Rise (the second half is boring af)

I kinda hoped they would return to that Collide-esque sound they had and this is probably the closest thing I've been wanting.

Just by the titles and the name of the band, I can already tell how generic this is gonna be. I'll give it shot anyway since the 13 year old on me still has a soft spot for Comatose and Collide.
