Maybe they shouldn't be predators
| |
They were always a poor mans Counterparts anyways
| |
lol this guys started following me on ig a few years bak, i dont think i heard a single song by them
| |
They have one song that's basically a ripoff of Say Days Ago
| |
Band has always been boring so ¯_(ツ)_/¯
| |
Guess that's another band to boycott then. Fucking hell. I really liked their last album...
| |
@Darius okay but this band hasn't done shit in three years so that's not the case?
| |
Shame it wasn't funny
| |
“They were always a poor mans Counterparts anyways“
Geez they must have really blown cause Counterparts isn’t even good
| |
except they are and you only listen to gay metal
| |
I like a lot of metalcore dude, Counterparts is just boring af
| |
I really like the use of the word ‘supposedly’ here
| |
presumably?
| |
Fuck I really dug these guys. Never heard about the allegations. What the fuck is wrong with people.
| |
Imagine if metalcorebros could keep their dicks in their pants
| |
They’d still make boring music
| |
And Counterparts is the least boring band in the stagnant genre of melodic hardcore. Try again.
| |
I loved Daniel Wand's vocals especially, so it double-sucks that he's a piece of shit. But whatever, there's at least a dozen clones I could be spending time with.
| |
“And Counterparts is the least boring band in the stagnant genre of melodic hardcore. Try again.”
“Least boring” is a bit of a backhanded compliment tbh. When I want to listen to a band that does the genre justice I’ll go to Birds in row
| |
Farewell knockoff counterparts
| |
These guys were awful live especially when sandwhiched between Hail The Sun and Eidola.
And yeah Counterparts is boring and overrated
| |
This Counterparts slander is disgusting and egregious.
| |
Have you checked Shai Hulud my dude
| |
So, are post-hardcore and metalcore basically the same thing nowadays?
| |
Anyway.. these guys are being dropped off tours and shit.. is there even proof that the allegations are true? Like, I could just post on twitter that I was raped by James Hetfield and then Metallica would disband?
| |
this thread is already off to a great start
| |
"Anyway.. these guys are being dropped off tours and shit.. is there even proof that the allegations are true? Like, I could just post on twitter that I was raped by James Hetfield and then Metallica would disband?"
If multiple people are coming forward about the band and it's members, it would be safe to assume that they are true. Nick was dismissed from the band after the allegations were raised (making him the scapegoat even though multiple members were responsible, pretty much what Moose Blood and Neck Deep did when faced with similar allegations), and then more people came out about their vocalist Daniel Wand. The band's resort of deleting their social media accounts rather than taking responsibility for what he did pretty much proves his guilt.
Of course, in these kinds of situations, people like to pick and choose which bands to drop and which ones to 'separate from the artist'. Everyone was so quick to call out Front Porch Step, but when it was Neck Deep being accused of similar stuff, all of Neck Deep's fans said the victim was making it up for attention (not sure who would want to be known for being abused by a band member, but alas).
| |
I liked the newer album for sounding a little more retro post hardcore like TOCS-era Underoath and whatnot, but it's a shame that these guys shot themselves in the foot before they had a chance to really shine.
| |
Ok, so if an album that came out in 2004 is retro post hc then I guess that Fugazi is like prehistoric post hc?
| |
Holy shit...then what does that make Embrace and Rites of Spring??? Amoeba phxc?!!??!?
| |
fugazi is grandpa post hxc
| |
im not here to split hairs, all im saying is fugazi STARTED it and there have been a few eras of it. im referring to the mid 00's iteration.
| |
lmao what i liked about their second album was just how much emotion those cleans had
| |
Find it hilarious when people completely disown a band because the whole band or a member did something shitty. The music still rules whether the band are shitty people or not. Will it deter one to support the band in the future? Sure, that's reasonable but if they put out some good shit already and you liked it then, it's pretty weak to now hate it just because a band's shitty character comes to light.
Just keep it about the music, no need to be all social justice warrior about this shit.
| |
^found the snide alt
| |
In a vacuum we should be able to calmly say the art is not the artist, but we aren't in a vacuum and in a subculture heavily centered on social justice ANYONE can get disowned on a moment's notice. Not accepting that at this point is just as ignorant as saying art = artist.
Jesse Lacey was one of the most beloved people in alternative music and he got completely ruined by shit that happened nearly 15 years prior to his accusations. Nobody is safe.
| |
At the same time, it's okay to be disappointed when the person you loved turned out to be a piece of human garbage and say it makes it more difficult to listen to the music.
| |
I can understand being disappointed, for sure.
I guess being a massive black metal fan I always looked past the human garbage of people and just liked music for the music. I'm not an atheist, I don't condone Nazi propaganda, hate, or murder but I love the hell out of some black metal.
| |
weird to love the singer of a mediocre metalcore band you don't even know
| |
I saw these dudes live and they were trash both times.
| |
Wand's cleans were the tits, so I get it
| |
If his cleans are so good why did he sound so bad live
| |
Even great singers can have their off days.
| |
I've seen them twice just barely a year apart. His vocals were ass and the band was sloppy.
| |
At the very least he sounded great in studio
| |
lol
| |
"These guys were awful live especially when sandwhiched between Hail The Sun and Eidola."
Yeah, them playing killed the vibe for a while.
Also it was great to see Thousand Below open for them and have a bigger crowd and put on a better show.
| |
i'm at least glad i re-evaluated my 5's before this happened, I had A Reintroduction at a 5 for a while.
| |
The comments on the linked article are fucking appalling.
| |
You know what's appalling? The fact that post hardcore can be anything from hüsker dü to fall out boy
| |
Yes, you're right. Genre mislabeling is far more appalling than hurling sexist insults at rape victims. Fuck off.
| |
@Ebola I’m pretty sure lambgoat has a reputation for having one of the most vile and cancerous comment sections on a site like that
@Cugno yea it’s pretty bizarre how far the genre has strayed from its origins. Yet another term co-opted by scene kids
| |
literally who thinks fall out boy is post-hardcore
| |
these guys were fucking pricks at local shows back in the day. tough guy x24x bullshit
| |
This band has always been painfully meh.
Condolences go out to victims hope theyre all doing fine.
| |
Whoa easy ebola
| |
damn i'm pretty sure they followed me on tumblr a long ass time ago, rip my follow ratio on there
| |
While we can appreciate that bad people make good music, I feel it’s unwise to continue supporting them once we're aware of their behaviour. Brand New were one of my favourite bands for years, but I stopped supporting them as soon as the allegations came out and haven’t listened to them since. I never listened to Science Fiction since the store I ordered it from didn’t get their stock until after the allegations came out (swapped my pre order for the last Hot Water Music album instead).
| |
agreed completely, but it's hard for me to not put on Whirr every so often
| |
what did whirr do?
| |
the transphobic tweets at G.L.O.S.S. i think (?
