New Mariko Goto (Midori) album 2019-05-11 by dimsim3478 | 10 Comments | On December 11, Japanese artist Mariko Goto will release her first new album in five years. Entitled 『ゲンズブールに愛されて』 (Gainsbourg ni Asarete), it will be her first full-length under the moniker "DJ Mariko Goto", following a demo she released under that name on Christmas Eve last year. Goto is credited with all writing, arranging, recording, mixing and mastering for the album. It will include music she contributed to a film collaboration with former AKB48 member Nomura Nao, to be screened at this year's MOOSIC LAB festival in Tokyo.
Gainsbourg ni Asarete will be released by Goto independently in Japan on CD, as well as digital and streaming. Indonesian label Gerpfast Records--who previously released a "very limited" quantity of Goto's demo on tape last year--will be doing a run of made-to-order cassettes for the new album (with digital download included), and will start accepting orders in October (the label does ship internationally).
Goto is most well-known for fronting the abrasive jazz-punk band Midori until their breakup in 2010, after which she released three solo albums; did some film, TV and stage acting; and wrote music for other acts (including a few tracks for new crossover favourite Haru Nemuri, with whom she toured China and Hong Kong this March). On two separate occasions, she announced on Twitter that she would be quitting the music business (first in May 2015, and again in May 2016). Finally, she began performing live again at the end of 2017, appearing for the first time as "DJ Mariko Goto" at Have a Nice Day!'s SCUM PARK 2017 show.

Probs gonna be ok like her other solo albums
listen to the DJ Mariko Goto demo. its pre different from her older tamer solo stuff and more in line with the unhinged wild style of Midori, so feelin like this could be pretty great.
| | | Where's it available?
| | | streaming everywhere. search "DJ510mariko" on whatever streaming service you use.
| | | Okay this is kinda fun. The mixes are kinda repetitive and not that engaging beyond their first minutes, but her performance is pretty neat and I'd defo dig a full album if she develops the ideas here even a little
| | | Too bad we have to wait until hecking December - hope she has things up to scratch by then
| | | 9 days to go ooo
