Not as good as The Tempest but still pretty enjoyable.

Love the groove. Can't wait for the album.
|
| |
I'm trying to get into this album, but it's definitely not as instant and catchy as "In Contact".
|
| |
Atleast the production is miles better, would love to see a remixed version of In Contact
|
| |
Really? I love all the bottom end of the last album.
|
| |
that was kinda cool yeah, but everything sounded way too muffled for my taste
|
| |
Decent track. Didn't like In Contact, seems like they're getting further away from that more natural sound on Bloom and earlier albums.
I hope this grows on ms
|
| |
I enjoyed this more than The Tempest. Forgot the band had a new album coming out.
|
| |
Damn I was looking forward to seeing these guys live on their US tour with my boys in Moon Tooth... :/

"Damn I was looking forward to seeing these guys live on their US tour with my boys in Moon Tooth... :/"
Shit that would have been epic!
This drops on my Bday, nice little present.

After quite a couple of listens I have to say that I'm loving both of them, but I don't know if they are up to the quality of In Contact. That album takes a lot of its excellence from the pacing of the entire thing though, so consider me cautiously hyped.
|
| |
Dammit, poobro, I love the two new singles
|
| |
Didn't expect you to enjoy something as overtly prog as this pikabro.
|
| |
I was really surprised too. Perhaps I should give In Contact another shot.
|
| |
You should if you enjoy this. It's not that far off from these singles tbh. In Contact is probably in my top 10 records of the 2010s.
|
| |
What about their other stuff?
|
| |
Quality is pretty top notch over their entire discography, but I never got into their older albums as much as I got into In Contact. But knowing you and me it could well be that their older albums click for you in a way it didn't for me.
|
| |
I see. I'll go through all of their stuff chronologically then. Will see how that pans out for me.
|
| |
Sound like a fun plan for today. I might join you with that haha.
|
| |
The first album could be a huge turn off though, all that pitch correction. The second album is way better and since Bloom there is no pitch correction in the vocals, not even in tiny amounts. Jim Grey has some big balls, almost all of his peers have more processed vocals. I love this guy
|
| |
all that pitch correction
I'm okay with that if the other elements make up for it.
|
| |
Okay, cool. The first album is still their weakest, even with better production, but it definetly has a lot of great moments. Enjoy!
|
| |
You enjoying these new songs kalk?
|
| |
Still haven't checked Slow Violence, but I liked how heavy and meaty The Tempest was. Kind of unususal for them, a little Congregation era Lerpous, I guess. gonna check Slow Violence today
|
| |
Ha, nice! This is something new for them. I'm always worried that these guys will become a more of the same band, but they somehow managed to stick to a core sound while always having new impulses. Impressive, loving this one. I expected something softer and fluffier like Songs For No One tbh, but this is great
|
| |
It follows a little in the same vein as In Contact I have to say. If Tempest was Dream the Dead then Slow Violence is Will's Song for sure.
|
| |
But they are different enough to indeed not feel like 'more of the same'. It's definitely fresh and interesting.
|
| |
Nah, that's kind of a stretch imo. Dream The Dead was way more drawn out. Tempest is more akin to Will's Song imo, because it's a more concise and heavy track, but riff and vocal lines aren't really similar imo.
In Contact wasn't too different from Bloom, but it was much more dense and bigger. This one will be different in a similar vein. Their sound, but from a different angle

These songs honestly sound incredible. Hopes are high.
