That sure was something
| |
Well, the instrumentation is cool, but...
Holy fuck that voice LMAO
| |
is this a joke band
i hate their band name
| |
btw i'm happy that he got sober
| |
Somehow this band has had 2 top 40 singles
| |
Holy crap the like-dislike ratio is nuts
Honestly thought this was gonna be solid with how good the acoustic guitars sound but I was wrong lol
| |
That was fucking embarrassing
I definitely don’t like this band but the singer never had an awful voice, would’ve sounded way better if he just sang like he normally does. Why’d he go and fuck it up so bad
| |
an attempt was made
| |
Fuck my ass who hired Eric Cartman as their frontman
| |
Yeah, dude was wild before he got sober. Joyride at an airport, threatening to fight people at shows, breakdowns on stage. He's getting shit on for the vocals so hopefully he doesn't take it too hard.
| |
hell yeah love this
| |
Scantlin has recently recovered from his addiction from cocaine and alcohol and has been sober since 2017.
i do not understand why this was brought up
| |
Bassist looks bored like he’s just collecting a paycheck.
| |
CAN YA TAKE IT ALL AWAAAAYHEEE
| |
That’s the fucking asshole who stole my house
| |
Bassist looks like he's watching his career flash before his eyes
| |
bassist sees $250 at the end of it all
| |
imagine recently recovering from an addiction while also being sober since 2017?
| |
3 yrs is fairly recent
| |
"Puddle of Mudd cover Nirvana"
don't understand how this is news, they've literally been doing that since they started making music
| |
yep. after 3 years calling it recently recovering from addiction is like saying you arent dating yet cause she dumped you 3 years ago. youre not making an effort to fully detach yourself from it if you phrase it like that.
| |
this band literally only has one decent song and its their first hit song Blurry. I always wondered if Cobain never died, and Nirvana changed musical directions, as Cobain said they would (he wanted to do vastly different weird music and I believe he would have taken the band in that direction) but would the copycat bands that came in the late 90's and early 00's have been different?
| |
if he hadnt died they wouldnt be as heralded I M O
| |
"bro as an addict 5 days seems miles in the past"
let's not make this about you.
| |
hes saying using being an addict as a reference
| |
If Cobain were still alive he'd probably be doing halftime shows with Gwen Stefani.
| |
Einstein said it best dude time is relative to the number of track marks up your arms
| |
i really doubt it, i believe cobain was one of those people who really did want out of the business. I imagine cobain would have became a bit like Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth is now.
| |
I bet Kurt Cobain and Damon Albarn would have worked together and worked well together.
| |
cobain would have had multiple children probably and would have 100% sold out
| |
"If Cobain were still alive he'd probably be doing halftime shows with Gwen Stefani."
Nah. I bet it would have been Jared Leto. (Jared Leto from the first two or three 30STM albums, not the latter Jared Leto).
| |
And courtney loves entire life would be different bc cobain was going to divorce her and distance himself from her so shed be nothing and unable to hang onto Cobains legacy. Just a wash up
| |
I feel like my Damon Albarn and Jared Leto guesses are better and more accurate than any of the generic crap ya'll have come up with so far.
| |
i'm here to talk about kurt cobain
| |
lol ban the people talking about Courtney Love
| |
cobain was going to go experimental though, i really doubt hed be into mainstream music like 30 seconds to mars, especially since he'd done rock music for so long already and done it better than them. It's kind of like a guy who works at an auto garage all day, does he want to go home and work on his neighbors cars too, probably not.
| |
Mainstream as in like Tool mainstream music? Cuz that's the first 30STM album... The second album and the band were not mainstream when that first came out either.
| |
I'm not a big Nirvana fan but it seems like an obvious foregone conclusion the guy would have become a fan of how someone like Trent Reznor operates and their philosophy of releasing music and public relations.
| |
It's not about where you come from it's about personal perspective and what you eventually do with it.
| |
headline should be "attempt to cover Nirvana"
| |
i like 30 seconds to mars first few albums but cobain was bored of rock music before he died, so i doubt hed be excited about it a decade later if he had lived. i dont think hed listen to that stuff.
| |
lmao this is brent hinds circa blood mountain bad
| |
he sticks his tongue forward when he does that in order to make a fake lisping sound, so i gotta believe it's on purpose.
| |
"this is brent hinds circa blood mountain bad" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, fuck. Perfect.
| |
the front man actually has tourette's syndrome and several other handicaps so we shouldn't be too harsh on him, altho that was woeful
| |
"In an alternate reality where Kurt Cobain didn't commit suicide in '94, he would've after seeing this."
lmao he's getting destroyed in the comments
| |
I was going to ask if this is permanently his voice now but zaru makes a good point.
| |
This is absolutely glorious.
| |
This damaged parts of my brain I didn't know I had. Probably won't recover from this.
| |
Lol wtf
| |
yikes
| |
lmao, thanks for this.
| |
amazing
| |
lol “attempts”
| |
hell yeah brother m/
| |
Like dude, you are not Kurt Cobain. You're a post-grunge wannabe. Say what you want about Nirvana, but this is so bad. Kurt wasn't a great singer, but at least he was an innovater. And he wasn't stupid lol. And this is just stupid. This coming from someone who grew up loving "Blurry". I'm actually about to listen to that shit lol
| |
I’m convinced this is satire. I know the guy’s an eccentric loose cannon, but there’s no way he was playing that song straight. Given their waning decline, I’d bank on it being a PR stunt — and one that’s working because it’s all I’ve seen people talk about lately.
| |
It's always the special things that brings us together. Like shitting on Puddle of Mudd.
| |
@DrGonzo1937 It could be a whole stunt from the record label, hope it is tbh. In any case, guy could definitely give a good performance if he avoided the gimmicks
| |
These guys are from my hometown and it makes me so damn proud. I shed tears at this performance. What a time to be alive
| |
Pile of Poop
| |
puddle of fukk
| |
This is an example of why you don’t simply ‘do it like this’ or achieve to ‘copy something like that’ or ‘be like so and so’
You either have it or you don’t. You either channel what it is you have from your soul and convey it in a way only you can muster or you don’t.
This bloke is the definition of how shit almost everything has become within the creative artistic sphere since the internet blighted our lives with complete bullshit
| |
Weren't these guys just trying to cover Nirvana for their whole career anyway
| |
a lot of these post-grunge guys do that sort of twangy fake voice thing and i think they're actually ripping off Eddie Vedder and Layne Staley more so than Cobain.
| |
by the way if you feel bad for this guy for his addictions or whatever and believe we're being harsh on him, look more into him, he's done a lot of douchebag things and definitely deserves to get ridiculed.
| |
@Eons, Frankly, most of his troubles are college-grade fuck ups and misdemeanors due to intoxication. The only thing I can't accept was the issues with his wife and domestic violence. Other than that, he's done mostly stupid drunk shit. I guess we can't say he deserves the public ridicule. Is his performance good? No, it's bad, but if he didn't try so hard he could've come up with something decent.
| |
Funnier than Weird Al Yankovic’s Smells Like Nirvana.
| |
tbh this was pretty solid for the 45 or so seconds before he tried to hit that first strain
also if getting sober is the first step towards him doing less stupid shit then it should be welcomed instead or ridiculed
| |
that's the point
| |
Should’ve gone the whole hog and blown his brains out
| |
hahaha
| |
this is amazing haha
| |
hahhaahahaha I only just listened its incredible
Like one of those joke , dubbed over piss takes
| |
Yeah I thought the 'attempted' in the news was kind of a lame joke until I listened.
| |
old news, but so so good
| |
Oh fking sorry Botb my fingers not on the pulse when it comes to Puddle of mud Nirvana covers!
| |
I've never seen a good Nirvana cover but this is one of the funniest.
| |
nice headline change
| |
FREEEEEEEEEEEEEAR
I DEWWWWWWWWW
| |
Robotic empire put togetger a discography compilation of nirvana with some great bands a few years back and it's pretty enjoyable.
| |
"Scantlin has recovered from his addiction from cocaine and alcohol and has been sober since 2017."
Ok.... not sure why that was mentioned.
| |
Oh my, I saw this posted by Loudwire, hahaha! This is horrifying... but hella funny.
| |
Lol
| |
CLEEEEUUUUUU
| |
The sad thing is he actually used to be pretty good at singing this song.
https://youtu.be/-FH9bcCM-nU
| |
Doesn't cocaine make you lose your teeth because this cover sounds like he's trying to sing and keep his dentures from falling out at the same time
| |
This is painful
| |
this physically scarred me.
| |
He sounds immensely better in that video sitar.
| |
I kinda feel bad for him now tbh
| |
Pile of Puddle
| |
Dude what the fuck is up with those vocals?
| |
If this wasn’t acoustic it could’ve been pulled off way better
| |
m
| |
Who the fuck cares?
| |
u
| |
Muddle of Pudd
| |
I care about the distinct lack of standards
| |
instrumentally it's fine but the singing is.... yeah
if he just sung naturally it would probably be fine
| |
Tbh this is actually pretty inspiring. Beautiful hip hop beat and instruments underneath sincere, raw vocals. Lyricism is relatable and melodic. Say what you want but this one slaps.
| |
huh
| |
Damn this was cringey lmao
| |
between these guys and Trapt, 2020 is turning out to be quite the time to be a early 2000's rock frontman
| |
I like it.
| |
Literally the worst cover I have every seen
| |
Sirius unlisted this video so if it wasn't for Sputnik I would have probably not seen it.
| |
lol that was funny to hear, this guy is a real comic.
| |
I need to jam Blurry, ASAP
| |
Blurry was such a great song back in the day and then everything went to shit
anyway the video is ridiculously funny, i cant believe no one in the band told him something like DUDE WTF ARE YOU DOING
| |
Blurry's basically this band's only truly good song
| |
Not having listened to the cover, two things:
1. Scantlin ALREADY sounds like Kurt to begin with, so...huh.
2. If there is a Nirvana song where Kurt does NOT sound strained, it's About A Girl. So, again...huh.
| |
hhahahahahahaha yeah...er.. maybe listen to it...
| |
I haven't laughed so hard in a while
| |
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
| |
My god, he DOES sound like Eric Cartman
| |
Of all the songs to cover... Maybe should have done "You Know You're Right" instead, that would have at least fit the band and his singing style.
| |
puddle of mudd
| |
actually a sick cover
| |
This is hilarious!
| |
"attempt" lmfao
| |
Before Eric Cartman, however, there was Marge Simpson:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZsBScgEKOQ
| |
Omg that was hilarious
| |
I like those deer-in-headlights stare that bass player gives every time they film him
| |
I'm honestly very happy for Wes. He's gained a lot of notoriety over the years (most of it warranted), whether that be for his on-stage performances or off-stage behavior, especially in the 2010's. It's good to hear that he's been patching up that lifestyle for the past three years.
With that being said, it seems that his vocal talent was also left in the past because that was the most dreadful thing I've heard all year.
| |
The on/off quiet loud dynamic in his vocals combined by ‘pained hick’ facial ticks = gold
| |
https://www.ultimateguitar.com/news/general_music_news/puddle_of_mudd_frontman_responds_to_toxic_comments_bashing_bands_recent_nirvana_cover_jealousy_is_toxic
BWAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA The go to for any criticism in 2020. 'YoUr JuZt a h8r'
| |
Could've just owned up to it and be like "hey man, off day, happens all the time"
"Ya'll just jealous, lol", like, really?
| |
Yeah could have scraped it back a little and just laughed at himself and said shit happens.
If he cant listen to that and hear how bad it is hes got bigger problems that I thought.
Own it.
| |
Deez, why'd you break the page?
| |
Soz
| |
im watching again, why does he makes those faces
| |
the bass guy tripping balls, the other guitar guy tryna conceal his laughter
what is this
| |
bet this guy and the dude from Trapt are owning the libs hard on twitter for the hate this cover's gotten
yall just dont know real music.... smh
| |
i mean it's kinda grunge's aesthetic to have vocalists sing out-of-key but this is ridiculous
| |
"Blurry's basically this band's only truly good song"
eh i'd disagree, they had a few jams on one of their early albums, better than blurry even. But yeah they are mostly garbage
| |
This guy is certainly taking things well enough I suppose. Better than whatever the FUCK is going with Trapt owning liberal metalcore bands or whatever sweet jesus. So desperate for attention when they could probably afford a therapist with whatever butt-rock money they still have laying around.
| |
How sad that Post Malone does better Nirvana covers than these guys
| |
I guess they said he sounded that way because he was sick but I don't get why they had to do that cover when he was sick? The band is taking it in stride though so it's all good
| |
Ahahhahahahahahaha this is amazing
All the high notes in slow motion.
https://youtu.be/ibFkJwomL_4
| |
"bet this guy and the dude from Trapt are owning the libs hard on twitter for the hate this cover's gotten"
going by his social media he seems to have just shrugged it off
| |
This made my week

This made my sput career

https://www.nme.com/en_asia/news/music/puddle-of-mudds-wes-scantlin-breaks-into-freestyle-rap-during-bizarre-new-interview-3038865
This is fucking hilarious.
| |
^ That title reads like a damn Onion article, lol
| |
DJ Fozzy Brown, yo.
| |
Dude's definitely putting lead in asses! Hardest shit my ears ever been hit with on the real! Approached that microphone with such ease!
These guys are local to me and I kinda wish one of our other bands blew up instead but hey yaknow
| |
