New KK's Priest Album, Song 2021-05-12 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 22 Comments |
New band featuring former Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing, KK's Priest, will release its debut full-length on August 20th via Explorer1 Music Group/EX1 Records. The video for the first single, ' Hellfire Thunderbolt', can be viewed below.
Besides K.K. Downing, the band consists of former Judas Priest singer Tim "Ripper" Owens, Hostile guitarist A.J. Mills, former Voodoo Six bassist Tony Newton, and DeathRiders/Cage drummer Sean Elg to create Sermons Of The Sinner. According to Blabbermouth, original KK's Priest drummer Les Binks (former Judas Priest), sustained a wrist injury, but will make special guest live appearances when the band tours.
"The whole concept is the fact that I continue proudly to be who I am and what I am and do what I do," declares Downing. "It's been nearly 10 years. I'm back making music."

I have mixed feelings about this, but it's nice that one of metal's greatest legends is still around, doing what he loves.
|
| |
KK's Priest is certainly not the most creative name
|
| |
Yeah, it's old-fashioned but KK is not a young lad either.
|
| |
Well, the name of the band alone doesn't really encourage to take this seriously, and then the song titles come along to completely kill off any possible hype/vibe.
|
| |
i liked his work with nintendo
|
| |
taking the Queensryche route
|
| |
He should stick to golf.
|
| |
eh, the mediocre expectation I had for this diminished when it sounded like Painkiller material. 70s Priest Is Better!
|
| |
oh god, those song titles. really aping the Priest stuff. leaves a bad taste in my mouth. maybe it wouldn't sell as well, but if it were more of a unique, personal project for KK it would be more interesting imo.

I sort of wish that Scott Rockenfield was drumming, Geoff Tate on vocals, and THIS was Queensryche2021 somehow.
2021 is quite a year...
|
| |
these song titles are insipid and pandering, and make me not want to bother
|
| |
wait that is literally the riff from "Nostradamus" but in the key of Hell Bent for Leather
|
| |
sounds like Rich Evans
|
| |
It's a tad generic, but I'm still more than willing to give the record a spin. Very interested to see what each band brings to the table this year.
|
| |
Song is ok. Ripper has lost a little bit of power but overall not bad.
This though:
10. Return Of The Sentinel
Are you fucking kidding me
|
| |
seriously what is it with ex members of bands reforming and creating mediocre rip off bands of their old band.
|
| |
this ain't even the worst one in Priest lol

Judas Priest already surpassed Black Sabbath on side-projects race.
|
| |
KK Slider OP KK
|
| |
Generic Priest mimicry and definitely not as inspired as Firepower, but still excited to hear the rest.
|
| |
KK was always my favourite member of the band but if you’re going to release diet priest music why not just rejoin the band?
|
| |
I'd rather we got new charred walls of the damned tbh
