There is a big focus on proliferation of the language at the moment as its use has obviously been trending downward ever since the motherland's lackeys disincentivised (read: punished) its use. This and other releases like it (of which there are many from the last couple of years) are a good thing. Plenty of people will start talking shit about colonial apologists and appropriation, but every step we can take to encourage the use/knowledge of Maori language/culture is a good step (see analogs Wales/Ireland for better developed language retention; see, uh, [redacted] for the indigenous culture exemplar). Even if it's a privileged pakeha pop star. Te reo is a gift, chill the fuck out.

Don't see any negatives from this. It's nice to see the NZ native tongue getting exposure.

The Maori culture is so unique, I guess I like this idea
