Celine Dion battles rare syndrome

2022-12-08 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 13 Comments
Canadian singer Celine Dion took her social media to share that she has been diagnosed with stiff person syndrome.

According to Cleveland Clinic, stiff person syndrome is a rare autoimmune movement disorder that affects the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord). People with this condition first experience a stiffening of the muscles of their trunk, followed over time by the development of stiffness and rigidity in the legs and other muscles in the body.

Due to this health issue, Celine Dion rescheduled Spring 2023 shows to 2024, and canceled eight of her summer 2023 shows.

"I've been dealing with problems with my health for a long time, and it’s been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through…It hurts me to tell you that I won't be ready to restart my tour in Europe in February."

sad, based on my 2 minutes of googling it looks like there is no cure and best case is taht treatment can slow or halt the disorder's progression

How is there not a better name for that.

I used to jam "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" a lot.

“ How is there not a better name for that.”

I had thought the same thing. Awful name

I hope things look up for her. It sounds like one of those things that’s hard to be optimistic about, but still hoping. 😔

One hell of a songstress, sad that she can't be out there touring like she wants to because of this.

Just awful news. Hopefully they can stop her condition from getting worse at the very least.

It apparently used to be called stiff-man syndrome which is even worse

“also hope this doesn't sound insensitive or anything but that is the stupidest name for a condition i've ever heard”

When I first saw the headlines about her condition, I didn’t think it was going to be nearly as bad as it is because the stupid ass name. Annoyed the hell out of me once I actually learned details. Like, that’s what you come up with for this?
