Ulthar's Saccades 2023-01-13 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 7 Comments | US Oakland's black/death metallers Ulthar have shared yet another track, 'Saccades', from their upcoming LP Anthronomicon, which will be released simultaneously with its sister album Helionomicon on February 17th through 20 Buck Spin. Guitarist / vocalist Shelby Lermo on the track: " 'Saccades' was the first song written for the Anthronomicon / Helionomicon project, shortly after the release of our last album, Providence. Musically, I feel it showcases the strongest aspects of Ulthar's sound, traversing the spectrum from grinding death to sweeping black metal. Lyrically, it explores the limits of human perception, and how things we think we see aren't always there. It was largely inspired by the novel Blindsight by Peter Watts."
Anthronomicon and Helionomicon were recorded on April 2022 at Developing Nations in Baltimore, MD by Kevin Bernsten. Mastered by Adam Tucker at Signaturetone in Minneapolis, MN. Artwork by Ian Miller.
